You can't change the way you are built. |
\ Good point, and since we are talking about your face, I think getting multiple opinions is a good idea. |
| I would get a professional makeup consult. |

We're all aging, OP. Either it's
1. Gaunt faces. or 2. Round faces that eventually slide down to jowliness. That's me, because I had a round face to begin with, which means I could have a slender body with a round face for many years. But now it's all sliding downwards

| agree that you should try updating your makeup first. glowy base, bronzer, blush, highlight will all go a long way. |

Filler gets a bad rap. Fill your temples, dead give away to age and filling the area is a subtle lift.
HRT too- such a big difference. After 40, definitely after 45, your estrogen tanks and only HRT will make up for the loss. |
| I have a family member, she is turning 33 shortly and became a "fitness influencer" on SM. Her body looks amazing, but even at 33 her face looks sooo gaunt. I think it's just part of being very low body fat for women. |
Yes, laughing at this. I’m 52 and look pretty terrible either way. |
ass or face happens at 40 (I remember reading the study years ago) Will look for the cite. |
in response to the query, chatgpt reminded me: "Scientific Backing: Twin Study on Aging A 2008 twin study by Case Western Reserve University (lead author Bahman Guyuron) found an intriguing pattern: For twins younger than 40, a higher BMI made the heavier twin appear older. However, after age 40, the twin with the higher BMI looked younger—likely because facial fat helps fill out contours, reducing the drawn appearance Women's Health . This finding is often interpreted humorously as “you must choose—face or butt”—because maintaining low body fat may help physique but can prematurely age the face. Vice versa, higher body fat may preserve facial youth but at a cost. It aligns neatly with the saying, giving it a touch of scientific validation." |

The whole "pick your ass or your face" thing is just something people say to feel better about being overweight in middle age.
The truth is that your face is going to look your age either way, but if you "choose your ass" you will be feel better and your clothes will look better. Always choose that. A flattering haircut and a makeup routine designed for older women can help brighten your face and make it look as youthful as is reasonable for a face to look at 45. |

I chose face. I wear clothes most of the time and my face is what is more important to me personally as well as for business.
JMHO But this is based on my line of work that is face to face all day long. When a person is heavier (even morbidly obese) with a beautiful face, they are still much easier to have to face (and you don't feel sad for them) than a person with a great body but a scary face where you can't stop seeing it as you speak with them wondering why they look so old. I think you need to gain even just 5 lbs, healthily, OP. |
By the same token, if you know how to dress yourself in flattering clothes, a few pounds isn’t going to make that much difference. |
No. At 65, our face looks aged and saggy no matter what. |
I also chose my ass over face, but I make sure to always wear sunscreen before a run. Do NOT stop running OP, there are more benefits than just a great ass. |
