All afternoon and evening alone in Los Angeles, what should I do?

Have dinner at Gjelina in Venice. Get there early and browse the nice shops on Abbot Kinney. And it's fun to walk along the canals and look at the adorbable tiny houses.
Avoid the Venice Beach boardwalk--it's a dump.

Yeah it's a good way to end the day, although Uber rides to/from Burbank will add up- may want to rent a car or look at transit for some part.

I'd start the day with a hike in Griffith Park, then go down and get brunch somewhere nearby like Larchmont Village or Los Feliz. Next I'd probably continue west and go to LACMA/Academy museum (movies)/shopping at the Grove or Melrose, depending on what your preference is. Then continue west for the dinner in Venice idea.

Korean spa, wander around Larchmont, go to Hollywood Bowl or Disney Hall.

See if you can do a paramount studios tour

In the afternoon, after showering up, go to LACMA or the Getty. Then go an early dinner (dining scene is great). After, end your night with a show at The Greek theatre or Hollywood Bowl.
Eat late night tacos. That’s a perfect LA day.

You can really do all that in a day in LA? I was there a few months ago for a day and we did the Getty, lunch and Santa Monica beach walk/pier and with all the traffic I don’t see how you could get the rest of your plan done. But it does sound like a perfect day if it’s possible!

Yeah you could do all that on a Sunday, but it would be a very long day including the show and late night tacos (ha), and a lot of driving. Going to the Getty in the afternoon would add a good amount of time, that's quite a bit out of the way.

The Broad Museum. Fab if you like contemporary art. Downtown. Free. Easy online tickets.

And close to Disney Hall if there is a performance at that GeHry designed masterpiece.

I lived in Burbank until recently. You don't want to spend your time in an uber going to the beach. Better to go to Pasadena, the Norton Simon Museum, Vroman's bookstore and grab some food in the area.

I agree the Broad museum is worth a visit, but it's downtown so not much else and not really a walk-around area.

Glendale which is just across from Burbank has a fancy mall, The Americana at Brand which is outside, with a tram, fountains, places to sit, a fabulous Italian restaurant, Trattoria Amici

Thank you, I do not want to be stuck in the car all day. Can you tell me your favorite coffee shop and favorite place for tacos or any other food recommendations?

Definitely rent a car

The Getty Museum (about 45 min from Burbank by car)

Griffith Observatory

Old Town Pasadena (Vromans bookstore, boutiques, a variety of cuisines)

Hike in Fryman Canyon (https://www.hikespeak.com/trails/fryman-canyon-loop-hike-wilacre-park-hollywood-hills/)

Agree, you will want to rent a car. Also agree with visiting Griffith Observatory. It’s crowded, but for good reason- great trails and views, and the observatory is cool to check out. IMHO, I think it’s best in the evening, when the sun is setting and the city lights start to twinkle.

Not far from Burbank is Mulholland Drive. This has more scenic views and glimpses of some spectacular homes.

Santa Monica is a bit of a drive, but it might not be too bad in the morning, on a weekend. If it’s your first time to L.A., I think it’s worth going here- maybe rent a bike and ride to Venice?

Final suggestions are Little Tokyo, near downtown, is a nice little neighborhood, as is Koreatown. Beverly Hills isn’t too hard to get to, but it’s overpriced stores and food. Interesting to see once, but not my scene.
