Elon big decline in enrollment

Anonymous
My kid thought about it but we would be full pay and I told him it wasn’t going to work.

I think it’s all about the cost of some schools right now. Wonder if Syracuse class is smaller since they were trying to add to their class late in the game.

They do a ton of recruiting and really work hard to attract good students. It’s a fantastic little school, hopefully it’s just a blip year!

A decline of over 11% enrollment is not a blip--it is cause for serious concern.

We also know that it is not a blip because of Elon University's fake explanation which reeks of a cover-up so that more students don't bail on the school.

+100 the future is public flagships and SEC colleges

The will have to do more discounting in the next few cycles.

Using the cliff as an excuse is lame - don't act like people are stupid.

I'm surprised they didn't have a waitlist that they could use to at least bridge some of the gap.

Elon is cheaper than a lot of other privates - total cost for the upcoming year is $66k.

I know several fairly recent Elon grads who had a great experience there and good outcomes. I'm not sure what is happening but I hope this isn't something major. I would be less concerned if they weren't using lame excuses.

That's pretty stupid.

Millions of us share names with infamous people.

I share a last name with a Congressman who was accused of murder. But it wasn't him.

My kid got into Elon but the merit award was low compared to out of state publics. It was also lower than what they had given to someone with similar grades/scores in the past so decided to pass. Loved the school and its approach. Eventually came down to COA.

The whole U.S. student market is going towards the direction of either you go to a T50 national university, or a T20 LAC, or you don’t go at all.

People will probably still go to regional public’s for less competitive jobs fields, think nursing, teaching, social work, criminal justice etc. that is where schools like old dominion will come into play because they are way cheaper.
