Elon big decline in enrollment

Cost or did not accept enough students or both. Its a very small school.

I have a kid heading there, they’ve been wonderful so far. Reminds me a lot of my Notre Dame kid’s experience as far as being family friendly with strong marketing. The name does bother me, but we got over it. I’m sure it hurt a little.

The name Elon is tainted.

Blaming it on the demographic cliff is interesting. Isn’t the class of 2025 the peak?

Maybe due, in large part, to openings created by student visa difficulties at more selective schools.

It is definitely a sign of trouble for Elon meriting serious concern about Elon's financial future.

Yes. Elon's stated reason for the huge decline is total bs.

Wonder if Elon Musk's role in DOGE is a factor scaring away prospective students.

To some, the name Elon may be as toxic as Trump University or Hitler High.

this is true and therefore their explanation makes no sense. I have a 2025 and was considering Elon for my 2027 but this coming from them is super concerning.

The article claims they didn’t want to admit lesser qualified students or give away too much money, so they chose to shrink. It’s a very dangerous path to go down as it sounds like they were faced with no good options. Will they recover? They have a very expensive campus to maintain from what I’ve heard.

That's pretty stupid.

Millions of us share names with infamous people.

I share a last name with a Congressman who was accused of murder. But it wasn't him.

The coming demographic cliff is going to be choppy waters for schools like Elon, mid-tier privates. You can go to OOS publics for cheaper to do the social scene.

The Elon VP for enrollment in the article recently did a long interview on Your College-Bound Kid:

Brands become tainted. It was already a school most people only learn about during their search. Now they hear it like a half written joke.
