Noticable reduction in homeless and tents in DC, what about libaries and metro?

It was a positive change, as usual. DC looks depressing with all the homeless people and encampments.

Does anyone know if they are still congregating in other areas like the libraries and metros? If they aren't, I may revisit date nights, etc, taking the metro and walking around at night.

"I'm so scared of seeing poor people I cower in the suburbs, terrified of walking around a city that hundreds of thousands of people live, work in, and enjoy daily."

How embarrassing for you. Most people would be mortified for anyone to learn they were secretly such a craven and despicable person and here you are just admitting it unprompted.

Yes, we certainly don't want economic activity in DC!

No, not from this person.

Keep in mind DC was meant to be neutral ground. Attitudes like this are a large part of why we’re occupied at the moment.

They should move all the homeless to Arlington and Bethesda.

Absolutely not. Heartless morons who voted for Trump (such as OP) are the reason we are occupied right now. People in DC know how to exist with the homeless population.

It's not like any meaningful change was made, and once this all blows over I guarantee you the encampments will return.

The encampments were actually an improvement over homeless in the parks and sleeping on the street. Now they are gone...

if only there was a place they could shelter or be detained if they commit crimes?

I wish someone in fairfax/Arlington would remove the tent encampments at columbia pike and Rt.7. There is about 10 on either side of the underpass by the ramps. This is a block from a homeless shelter with plenty of room they don't want to stay at.

Being homeless is a crime?

There would need to be a whole lot of very inexpensive housing built in DC for the sheltering to happen. For mentally ill and addicts, the official shelters don't work well.

I'm old enough to remember that old hotels would be turned into cheap rooms for rent for extremely low earning people: you would rent a bed and room and that was it. All of those have been torn down, but need to make a comeback if you want people off the streets.

Everyone talks about how easy it is until they camp out in front of your house. Just be glad that hasn’t happened to you yet.

Well, I live in DC, unlike you. So I think that makes me infinitely more qualified to talk about the "problems" in DC. I actually talk to these people almost daily. I work near a men's shelter and commute through Union Station. What bumfu^k nowhere are you commenting from?
