I like plain white vinegar - is this weird?

Anonymous
I sometimes use it for salads. No harm, no foul. A nice balsamic does add more flavor. I sometimes use white vinegar to flavor gazpacho if I run out of the good balsamic.

I believe that white vinegar is much stronger than other vinegars, such as ACV etc. IOW, be careful while using it and either dilute or use less.

Right, no ulcer, OP. This could be the risk. Make sure to take a multivitamin, or eat enough fruit, to get in your vitamin C.

OP comes to the site to ask if her desiring the strongest vinegar is weird then gets offended when people tell her there could be some concerns.

I use plain white vinegar mostly for cleaning (mixed with baking soda and/or Dawn); marinating pork ribs; and maybe a tiny bit in collard greens. I recently went on a white balsamic vinegar kick, and I’m really enjoying the flavors.
OP, you like what you like. Enjoy it. Be careful that it doesn’t harm your tooth enamel though.

The % is right there on the label.

Those are caused by bacterial or parasite infection.

Good point, drinking too much soda can also cause the same symptoms. Soda is very acidic.

You must have missed the part where I said a) I eat a ton of salad and b) this is about the type and flavor of vinegar, not the quantity.

You and vinegar are similar.

Ok well don’t tell me dumb MAHA crap like “get your labs checked.” happy to take recommendations on vinegars though.

I'm not that PP, but I'm a scientist and this is not a MAHA thing at all. People who really like acidic sauces and foods generally tend to lack vitamin C, or have a greater need than average for that vitamin, for whatever reason. Maybe you don't lack vitamin C, and maybe you're perfectly healthy. But we're just letting you know, in a non-urgent way, that this is something you might want to keep in mind.

No reason to operate on a hair trigger and make it political. That's a really weird reaction.

For vinegars, I'm Japanese and love my rice vinegar, but I also like balsamic.

Stop it with the nonsense.

No, most bottles sold in the food aisle are 5%, same as other vinegars.

It’s not stronger than other vinegars …

I used to think smart people came to DCUM. Not sure why now!

There's actually a fairly common 4% now, which doesn't matter for OP but is something to watch out for if you're pickling or canning. You need 5%.

OP here. I appreciate this response as opposed to the ones telling me I have scurvy 😂

Honestly I felt icked out a bit when I first used it (since I literally only have the bottle for Easter eggs) but was surprise at how much more harmonious the salad dressing was.
