From Google:
Yes, the military does punish adultery. It's considered a criminal offense under Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Specifically, Article 134, which addresses "extramarital sexual conduct," can lead to various punishments, including a dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of pay and allowances, and confinement for up to one year. |
Then maybe OP should have specified that, because that it not the norm in other workplaces. Most of them don't even have any policy regarding relationships at work, and for those that do, a lot of people turn a blind eye. 99% of posters on DCUM have no clue what goes on in the military and it's not expected that they should know. |
|
Where has OP told us this was military, for God's sakes? Who are these people making stuff up? Or does OP not adhere to basic message board etiquette and posts without identifying themselves? |
I wouldn’t make an absolute statement and then double-down on it unless I was 100 percent certain I knew it was true. |
| Just pretend you didn't notice. No one will thank you for intervening. Whereas you may cause misery. |
| I would absolutely ignore that. |
They were responding to the person who said no job cares about adultery. |
She said that it was relevant. You just not to believe her. |
| I would have said start a clean email to answer the question. But I like ignoring the email better. |
OP works with sleazy dumba$$es. She might thank herself if they move on. |
Has to be 1 or 3, 2 leaves OP open to liability. How many people scroll down emails? Maybe OP didn't this time. |
MYOB unless you want to get sued. |
|
If OP doesn’t respond or starts a new email chain, it would be obvious that she knew. I wouldn’t feel any responsibility to report it unless that’s explicitly laid out somewhere .
OP works with some real idiots. May the Coldplay cam get therm all. |
OP did not identify themselves except for this response: "This is OP. Him being married is relevant in this situation. But they are on the same level, so it’s not a special favors situation. " Nowhere does it say military. "Relevant" is suspect in a world where some people believe adultery to be a mortal sin, and others simply couldn't care less. People could assume OP is leading with her personal beliefs. |
Not if there is no evidence, hence the private convo. |
