What would you serve at an all women cocktail party?

I don't know what kind of piggies are posting here, but you don't have to have a full catered dinner. Just post in your invitation that you are doing "snacks" so people know to eat before they arrive.

A cocktail party at 6 should have enough food to cobble together a dinner. One beginning at 8 doesn’t need it. Plan accordingly.

I’d serve a huge cheese and charcuterie board, but I love the Med tapas idea more.

+1. Make sure you tell them that it’s not dinner.

This again. If you invited someone at 6 and don’t have dinner, you are a bad host. Calling them piggy makes you an extra bad host.

In my WASP upbringing, the olives from the martinis were enough. Maaaaybe french onion dip with potato chips if we are splashing out.

Low sugar and lots of minimally processed food. Prosecco + a signature drink with minimal sugar.

Maybe an indulgent dessert that comes in bite sizes. But it’s a know your audience thing.

This was going to be my suggestion and what I always do. For dessert I put out a box of fancy chocolates and most people will have one or two. Other desserts don't really get eaten IME (when the group is all women).

You can make a full dinner out of heavy apps. Unless you are fact a 300 lb piggie.

But I thought DCUM women didn’t eat. Now they’re expecting a full sit down dinner?

You sound like a horrible host.

I eat and I’m thin. Probably because I eat real food and don’t think appetizers are dinner.

Honestly I'd be happy with pizza for a game night.

Same. Know your audience, I guess. OP knows if her group is a bunch of almond moms or not.

This is what I do. I tell everyone I'll have heavy apps for anything starting before 7pm. I get a few frozen things that get warmed in the oven (the pastry pups, the 5 cheese spiral in phyllo dough, samosas or similar) and then put together a hefty charcuterie plate with multiple cheeses, salami/prosciutto and a variety of crackers and hummus. Then I make a salad too. It's more than enough to make a meal. Lastly, get some of the boxed truffles or the frozen macrons. A hit every time.

Appetizers can absolutely be dinner. You just eat more of them. When planning for this, have a variety of things (some heavy, some not) to offer. How is a pre-made wrap different from having hummus, crackers and cheese/meat laid out? It's not. One is more deconstructed.

You have to be trolling me? This can’t be a real post. I guess it explains all the posts in the diet forum.
