What would you serve at an all women cocktail party?

This again. If you invited someone at 6 and don’t have dinner, you are a bad host. Calling them piggy makes you an extra bad host.

You can make a full dinner out of heavy apps. Unless you are fact a 300 lb piggie.

But I thought DCUM women didn’t eat. Now they’re expecting a full sit down dinner?

I eat and I’m thin. Probably because I eat real food and don’t think appetizers are dinner.

Appetizers can absolutely be dinner. You just eat more of them. When planning for this, have a variety of things (some heavy, some not) to offer. How is a pre-made wrap different from having hummus, crackers and cheese/meat laid out? It's not. One is more deconstructed.

NP here (another thin woman, not that it matters) and saying appetizers can be dinner isn't the problem it was saying that people suggesting dinner are 300 pound piggies is the problem.

Sorry but if it's at 6 and especially if there is alcohol, you need enough food for people to cobble together dinner. It doesn't have to be a main and sides- heavy apps are fine.

What kind of ill-mannered host puts out cocktails at 6 and small snacks for a game night where people are presumably hanging out for a few hours?

I hosted a similar event recently.

The most popular app was Cabrese skewers.

The most popular drink was white wine.

The most popular dessert was lemon bars.

OP here. Thank you for all this feedback! Yes — was always planning on having heavy apps (was thinking more of the “girl dinner” style) but now thinking of pivoting to Lebanese Taverna catering.

I’m one of the people who said appetizers are not dinner. LT is terrific. (Girl dinner is example of what you shouldn’t do.)

I can promise you hardly anyone will be eating. Everyone is on GLPs and not hungry.

Isn't a charcuterie board deconstructed by it's very nature?

In my WASP upbringing, the olives from the martinis were enough. Maaaaybe french onion dip with potato chips if we are splashing out.

bonus points for dirty martinis so you have cheese in your olives

Is this what you are recommending to OP or are you just sharing a "fun" fact about yourself to internet strangers?

Shirtless male dancers serving finger foods and appe-teasers on silver platters before the dance off?

I think this poster is trying to make us laugh. Are you familiar with humor?

Low sugar and lots of minimally processed food. Prosecco + a signature drink with minimal sugar.

Maybe an indulgent dessert that comes in bite sizes. But it’s a know your audience thing.

As a "late" 40s, this sounds lovely.

Candi, Toni, and Shandra would love this. Emily, Rose, and Jenna would be horrified.

For those recommending the Mediterranean apps, can you give examples of what you’d order?
