Yep, an adult man talking about the genitals of a child? Creeps need to eff off. Again, we have no idea if this kid was actually trans, and so what was this guy asking? To see the kid's genitals? |
No. |

Clearly says NVSL rules apply even if it was a B meet. Medals were given out to winners. This boy swimming as a girl stole a medal from a girl. Who cares if it was a 10U meet, the kids still care. Just because your child is trans doesn't mean they should be taking away from my child. I would be furious. |
So happy that this topic has popped up again. Such an important issue. Far more important than the other issues we have out there in this country today. |
What NVSL rules apply doesn’t mean “NVSL has jurisdiction”. Which NVSL rule do you think was violated? |
Again, how do YOU know this was a boy? Are you guys whipping up a mob against a child based on what exactly? |
You would be furious about the results of swim meet where there are kickboard events? You must be angry all the time. |
This is actually not true and has been shown such in studies of youth athletes. Boys retain significant advantages at all ages. |
Yep. And I would definitely win
The most intense parent paper plate award Or Most likely to curse on deck parent paper plate award My 10u daughter would never be beat by a biological boy though. She's going to the Olympics in her tech suit!!!!! |
It doesn't even sound like it was a bona fide "trans child." It was just a boy who put on a girl's swim suit. |
Absolutely false. And note that he won both races. |
Agree. |
Yes, actually, we should be. Parents have got to start standing up in situations like this. I admire him for his courage. |
What are you basing that on? |
If they are going to separate swimmers by sex of the participants, then that has to apply to all participants.
The reason sports segregate by sex is fairness. For some people it's also about protecting kids, though in a sport like swimming where it's a mixed heat anyway, that doesn't make sense. So if the kids are sex-segregated, it's because they think it's more fair for kids of the same sex to compete just against each other. If, for kids under 11, it really doesn't matter, then they shouldn't sex segregate at that age. I think that while the times for girls and boys in those age groups are certainly closer, what you'd wind up finding is that all but a few girls would be locked out of top 10 standings at most meets, and that parents of girls would be unhappy with this (and that the girls themselves would not love it). I'm not anti trans. But it makes no sense to create sex-segregated sports specifically for fairness, and then permit trans girls to compete against biological girls. The whole reason there are sex categories in the first place is to prevent that from happening. I think the solution is either to have a special category for trans swimmers, have kids swim with their biological sex even if it doesn't match their gender expression, or to get rid of sex segregation for this age group (though as I mentioned, I think the outcome of this would ultimately feel unfair to girls even if it's not AS unfair as it becomes when the kids have entered puberty in earnest). This isn't about ostracizing trans kids, it's about seeking a solution that is fair to all kids and doesn't ignore physiological differences between the sexes which were the entire basis for segregating them in the first place. |
