Is Vanderbilt anyones First/Top Choice?

Anonymous
I have a friend who couldn't afford an ivy+ and ended up at Vandy on a merit scholarship. Had a great time, double majored and ended up at a bulge bracket bank in NYC. Still has a lot of friends from college. I don't know who has it as a first choice but it worked out great as a second choice for my friend.

Vandy is planning on New York and San Francisco campuses, which are huge pluses. For those who are metropolitan, more options become available.

I wonder about this and don’t presume to know answer, but I think this will dilute exclusivity of the brand.

My god you people are insufferable. It wasn’t one my kids pursued, but Vanderbilt is a great, great school, packed with people who are absolutely thrilled to be there.

USNWR brainrot is so embarrassing.

My DC unfortunately has not yet gotten off the Stanford waitlist and is planning to go to Vanderbilt in the fall. I see many people on here say the school is overrated and does not deserve to be a top 20. My DC also chose it over two lower ranked ivies.

Nice troll

Most years, brown shares a ranking slot with it (see 2022,23) and Dartmouth was actually lower. Then usnwr went all in on pell grant as the only metric

I assumed Vanderbilt was an ivy+ I could be mistaken though

+1
I believe the chancellor knows this as well and the properties could be for internships and Vanderbilt club spaces, but if opening satellite campuses, it will devalue the university

Vanderbilt competes with Ivies for top kids at my kid’s Southern private.

From the perspective of attending students (particularly premed), Chelsea? or SOMA? no complains.

What is intent of this? Your child is headed to Vanderbilt. It’s a great school. Is what it is at this point.

My child was admitted to two Ivies RD this cycle and rejected outright from Vanderbilt.

Would have easily chosen Vanderbilt over either Ivy if given the choice. Ended up choosing another non-Ivy school.

No, ivy+ is the ivies, MIT, UChicago, Stanford and Duke.

Ivies are still ivies, but Vandy beats Cornell like a rug every day of the week with these girls - and it’s not even close. That’s the true ivy proxy as Dartmouth is more like Amherst, and Penn and Columbia are experiencing their own issues

What issues is Penn experiencing…other than some made up bullshit issues you may now list?

Penn received 40% more applications than Vanderbilt…another record year.
