How can you say southern students have “no chance” at going? You’re making some horribly prejudiced assumptions here about southern kids. To take a rough paraphrase of that line from Sweet Home Alabama just because they talk slow doesn’t meant they’re stupid. |

I meant Vandy vs Columbia
22:78 Columbia is winning. |
| How is this still dragging on? They have ED. |
Mhm I’m sure it does

Oh honey, someone’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. Parchment results are not reliable. But, not only do you lack on an intellectual level to know that but you're also classist and racist. The South has the largest and most successful black population in the US with very talented students. Maybe spend time working on yourself before spewing your disgusting rhetoric. And there are many students who aren’t qualified who apply to Harvard, I assume your kids will be one of them

There's a reason Vandy is 50% TO. |
Yes. It's a Division I, Power 5 SEC school. This really isn't complicated. They have to recruit enough athletes who can compete in the SEC -- meaning, from all over the country, in all the sports. [The school has an entering class of 1600 and nearly 500 of them are athletes] I wish Vandy's TO intake was closer to that of other T20 power sport schools like Duke and NU, which are about 20% each. That seems balanced. That said, the school spirit atmosphere that Big Sports brings to a university is a key selling point for a lot of applicants, so who knows. A lot of smart kids target Vandy precisely because it offers excellent academics and school spirit in a fun, big city. |
Yes, Parchment has transcript info, but that’s not college selection data. Parchment is very coy about the data they’re using. There is lots of stuff on methodology, but not data. And, yes, some of the data is student provided. |

Here is Parchment's 2022 overall list of college rankings. For whatever reason, they don't have a more updated list. As of that time, Vanderbilt ranked 23rd overall and ahead of several Ivies. I don't know what's going with Parchment data, but they are not forthcoming about their data source and these overall ratings ceased in 2022. Frankly, the numbers people are posting on here regarding Vanderbilt are not possible given its published statistics. |
According to parchment, a majority of students take BYU over Duke. Most take Wake Forest over Princeton. And it's about even between those choosing between Harvard and the University of Vermont. It's a useless website. |
I just ran it. It literally gave no results for Princeton vs Wake. More importantly if the results aren’t color coded then they actually don’t have enough data so they aren’t final results (which both the Duke and Harvard comparisons above are). |
Vanderbilt admits: 61% submitted test scores Enrolled class (last year): 52% submitted scores The enrolled class of a school is always lower stats than the admitted class of the school. Also, there are about 450 TOTAL athletes at Vanderbilt, not just in the freshman class. So about 110/1600 athletes in the freshman class. |
