Well everyone is different. I don't consider OLive Juice to be very expensive and think of its as a back up if I don't find what I need elsewhere. They do have some very cute stuff though. My favorite children's clothier is www.papodanjo.com. Both companies hold trunk shows in DC, by the way.

sorry, what is a trunk show and when/where? thanks!

A trunk show is when a department store holds an "event" involving showing the new off the rack designer clothes to overweight, aging women who believe they are fahsionable while overly made-up saleswomen faun over them in the great hopes of sales yielding commissions. Its hysterical as these crazy women who attend act as if they are attending NY's fashion week. If you are sipping your champagne next to an escalator in Chevy Chase or Tysones while wearing your size 10-12 Armani or St John..you are not fashionable.

Signed Target loving momma who could afford to spend more but doesn't buy into the BS.

Just because someone spends a lot on her child's clothes does not mean that she is spending a lot on everything.
I like nice clothes for my dd, but I notice that it makes no difference what I put DS into, he looks the same.
Also, I was once a seamstress, and it is nice to see well made clothing that I can appreciate.
That said, if you don't value it, then don't buy into it.
If you can't afford it, then don't buy it.

Warning about Olive Juice, read the return conditions carefully wrt shipping costs.

The knits shrink a lot.

The pants (especially the cords) are made of (too) soft fabric which loses its shape by the end of the day.

The inseams are short, not good for leggy kids.

Today my 3yo got on his shirt:

Oatmeal
Blood (from a bloody nose)
Paint
Ketchup
Muddy water from splashing in puddles.

I didn't care, and wasn't mad. He's 3, and his shirt was from Target...but I got it for free as a hand-me-down. Whether you have the money or not, blowing a ton of money on clothes for small kids seems wasteful to me, considering the things they do to them. (But then, I buy the cheap diapers too, because I'm not shelling out big bucks for something my kids POOP in.)

Is the size of the women really relevant to your point? Or are you just a mean, insecure bitch?

That's what I thought.

I get your point but size 10-12 is overweight now? God help me.

Here's the thing: small children do not care what labels they have on their backs - save the money for their college so we don't have to pay for you! This is not about you it is about them - not everything is about you. They do not need pricey labels. Get some GD common sense, people!

Confession: most of my daughter's clothes are from Target, Old Navy, consignment sales, etc. She's 2. Most of what she wears ends up getting spilled-on at daycare. But every season I buy one piece of clothing that I just love, that's more expensive. My usual is a dress from Tea Collection. They cost $28 or so, which I think is a lot to spend on a kid's dress she'll outgrow in a few months. I rationalize it by having her wear it to a special occasion or for school picture day or something.

I love Tea Collection... they had a special "$10 dress day" recently and I got my DD a few in different sizes. great quality and I love their fabrics... It's expensive full price but they have good sales every now and then...

Thanks, OP! I love Neige clothing so I've been drooling over this store recently. No orders yet, but maybe I will with the coupon code. I wish they would stop teasing me by sending me the catalog though!
