Help! I was ATTACKED by mosquitoes!

I’m also tingly everywhere, like I want to come out of my skin. I wouldn’t say I’m anaphylactic but something inside of my body feels off. I’ve been smearing Benadryl cream and After Bite, but I can’t take Benadryl because it knocks me out and I can’t be sleeping. But this tingly sensation is driving me crazy, as is the itching. What else can I do?

Maybe you should hire a gardener?

Instead of Benadryl, try Zyrtec (generic cetirizine). It helps me with over histamine production - which causes me to itch at night. Unlike benedryl It’s not habit-forming and is “non-drowsy”

I’m a mosquito magnet. This salve from Pure Remedy works quickly for me to stop the itching. I got it from Amazon.

Hot shower sounds the opposite of what this person needs.

And burn them off?

Or both.

Exactly. Nothing works better than an ice pack for calming itchiness.

This, but make it a cool bath, not a hot one.

Hydrocortisone cream works in addition to Benadryl cream. They work in different ways, so slather them both on for maximum benefit.

This one also works pretty well, it's more of a topical numbing agent than attacking the swelling or itchiness directly. I'd say it's overkill for most normal mosquito bites, but not for what you're dealing with!

a little off-topic, but am I the only one who gets super drowsy with Zyrtec? and it doesn't help with my allergies! Why is this?

No. I’m the mosquito magnet who commented above. I tried taking Zyrtec briefly. It hits me hard — like Benadryl. I tried taking it in the evening, but when I woke up, I still felt like a zombie — I was afraid to drive.

This Spring’s miracle has been Astepro — a nasal spray antihistamine. For my seasonal allergy symptoms, it kicks in in about 30 minutes or less. It feels like a miracle.

Same! It’s bc histamine plays a role in wakefulness. Zyrtec makes me and my DH feel drugged.

Swimming. The chemicals in the water really help. I know you are looking for a quick fix, but if you could get to a pool/for anyone else/future.

A friend had this happen last week and I happened to have “Cortizone-10 Ultra-soothing” and it really helped.

When I get too many mosquito bites, my body really overreacts. I need a steroid cream and sometimes oral steroids. I start with Zyrtec, but it isn’t always enough.
