My daughter LOVES this movie.

I've seen tons of K-dramas, some involving pop star storylines; some excellent, some terrible.

This one is lowest common denominator crap for the unwashed masses.

DD also thought it was terrible.

Well, it sounds like your daughter inherited your terrible taste. So sad

Seems to be a cultural phenomenon. We saw it at a late showing and a lot of 20 year olds seeing it ironically I guess? But who spends real money and wasted two hours for irony that no one sees??

Maybe the 20 year olds just wanted to watch a cute movie?

I looked up the singer who can hit those super impressive high notes, and she is the songwriter who was rejected as a K-pop star for being too old, but she was apparently so much better than the actress who does the talking voice, that she got to sing the song on the recording! Gives a whole new meaning to the lyrics.

Oh that's so interesting. She was great!

I was disturbed, and really kinda offended at the lack of diversity. I mean, they did not even try.

I don’t think there is a lot of irony at play; the movie is just charming.

It’s not irony!

The 20 year olds went to see the movie because they genuinely like it.

Happy to clear that up for you 😉

...in a K-pop cartoon? You've got to be joking.

I think the main characters should look more Korean (everyone else does)

She looks like Elsa. They chose a good model.

NP.

Elsa / Frozen is a next-level offensive for lack of diversity, but that’s a topic for a different thread.

K-Pop Demon Hunters lacks even an attempt at racial and cultural diversity.

Major fail.
