To whom do I report a MD grocery store without a scale?

I don’t think you understand how checkout for produce by weight works.

Have you ever bought produce? You pay for what you pick based on weight. There is no “winning”.

OP wants a scale in the produce section.

Who cares. I have never used a scale. Are you cheap?

It must be nice to be so wealthy that you haven’t noticed produce prices skyrocketing.

Real answer. Where I live, it's the County department of consumer affairs. They actually have a couple of guys whose job it is to go to the stores with weights and make sure they are accurate and not ripping people off. This is a real thing and people should stop making fun. I learned this from an attorney who worked at the county. They had another unit in charge of making sure stores were following the laws regarding plastic and paper bags and how much they can charge..

If there's some random municipal rule there's also a random employee assigned to enforcing it.

OP, if you can't find out via Google you could try calling your local representatives, as close as you can get to where you live (more like town, county than state or federal).

Yeah that extra 3 oz doesn’t make any difference to me. I have no idea if my store has scales.

This is interesting and timely. I live in VA. The other day I wanted to weight some produce and couldn’t find a scale!

This was also a chain. I didn’t look very hard. Now I am definitely looking harder when I go back!

+1, scamming customers with faulty scales is a classic.

It’s the Maryland Department of Weights and Measures. See the FAQs below for a link or make an anonymous complaint. Or call and find out what is required regarding scales in grocery stores.

You're a idiot who benefits from the engagement of so-called Karen's. Becasue of people who speak up, demand regulations, and demand that established regs are followed we all benefit. But easier for you to sling tired cliches while you enjoy your safe, regulated groceries.

You never buy just enough of a certain kind of produce that the recipe calls for?
