When I was in college and got three speeding tickets in a year, the state suspended my license for six months. I showed up to court though.

In this case, she’s in college, but she’s also 35. Also, she sent her lawyer to appear in court.

The UK is really strict about this stuff and sending your lawyer to court on your behalf is not equivalent to failing to appear in most cases. While she shouldn't speed, 4 tickets in 3 years within 10 miles of the speed limit and counting camera catches (!) is really nothing... By that standard, the majority of Americans would likely not be able to drive.

I live in a busy street. It has a 25 mph limit. They stuck one of those mobile speed displays up and many many cars were going 40 mph+.

I don’t know the details here but have very close family living around different parts of London. It is so different there. We are not talking speed displays in the neighborhood but speed cameras all over and more enforcement in general. Northern Virginia could use it but most drivers would end up paying fortunes (which is why it is needed).

I thought she graduated from Brown? She's pursuing a.... master's or JD... or PhD after the acting gigs dried up?

LMAO, people often try to set speed records when they put those things up, just to mess with them.

She’s getting a masters in creative writing, I believe.

The most recent citation came on July 31, 2024, for driving her Audi A3 38 mph in a 30 mph zone, according to the Mirror. That’s the same car that reportedly got towed in February 2024 after Watson didn’t see a “no parking” sign, blocked a driveway, went to meet her mom at a pub across the street and trapped a couple of cars in a gated compound for more than three hours

This recent ban was not her first offence.

Slow news day.

Can you imagine if we did the same here in the US?

She’s pretty entitled, not showing up and expecting it to work for her is par for the course.
