Tell your supervisor that you need an answer by 7/21. If you do not have a response, you will assume that they are not granting that it is paid out. If it is not going to be paid out, you will be planning to take off as this is a part of your compensation.
Request for your time off to be approved for 10/1 through 12/31. |

Are you taking 3 mo of leave all at once? Or are you spreading it out?
They're probably trying to work out logistics on how to temporarily fill-in for you (temporarily agency, delegate among colleagues) and most likely that's a lot of red tape. |
Whatever. If there is a lot of "redtape," supervisor can communicate that to employee. OP, your supervisor should never have let you accrue this much comp time. If they wanted to just pay you out, they would have approved overtime. Start taking days off in short increments now to use it down. When is your colleague coming back from medical leave? It may be time to look for a new job. |
This. But I would schedule the first days off in August and screw “not a good time for the company.” They clearly don’t care about you enough to even answer you, so don’t bend over backwards for them. Plus an August vacation might make them focus enough to cut you a check. Stay polite and professional in all communication obviously. But they are taking advantage of you at this point - no need to lie down so they can walk over you. |
OP, are you exempt or not exempt? I assumed most people who were not exempt got over overtime pay. Is ‘Comp time’ in your hiring agreement? |
| What is your company’s official policy on comp time? Our employee handbook explicitly states that it’s not paid out. |
Which will not really hold up in court when they make it difficult for you use. What does your employee hand book say? |
How large, in terms of number of employees, is the company ? Is the company healthy financially ? |
