Why isn’t this house selling? McLean, VA

Yep. We want to upgrade to a larger house but hate the current McFarmhouse and McContemporary trends. Both feel overdone and sterile. DC and MD seem to have nicer housing stock on the larger side vs nova.

The proportions are completely out of scale with human day to day living. I echo a previous poster who referenced a museum. It's offputting.

There are only so many rich middle eastern familys with horrible taste to go around...

What should be done? How low does the price have to go before it sells?

D@mn, they replaced old ugly house with new ugly one. It will be another 60 years before they tear this one down.

Vienna is full of these. They're grotesque.

This is hideous.

Market is trending down - for sellers and this has nothing to do with the summer, despite what re agents keep spouting off.

They've been chasing the market downward

Inventory up considerably vs year ago. Much political, economic uncertainty plus many job cuts. McLean, Arlington or wherever not immune. People don’t buy when they don’t feel confident. Simple

Too many bad design choices to mention. Many of them incredibly impractical.

Tear it down!

I am so tired of seeing gray walls. Gray is the color of prisons. When we were painting to sell, the agent recommended pale gray and I said absolutely not. I do not want my last memories of this house being me looking at gray walls and thinking prison cell.

It’s ugly. No character. Too wide open inside. Boring landscaping. I hate it. Every room looks the same.
