Technically- it depends on your school’s actual numbers IF anyone were to complain.
Title IX requires equal participation numbers. In reality though, boys participation is much higher than girls. We do still love to discriminate against girls. So, you are likely going to be fine with having girls on whatever team. Some issues though, participation might limit or exclude them from doing something else. States have different rules on whether you can do things like play the same club sport and school sport at the same time. So, for example, in a State that prohibited that, a girl could not play on the boys school soccer team and her club soccer team this Fall. But, it’s a “same sport” thing. So, a girl could play football and club soccer at the same time. |
My understanding is that, in fact, it happens regularly, and the US and other international teams use boys to practice against - it is just that these matches aren't supposed to be publicized. Soccer is probably close to the worst case, as far as female sports disadvantages. It is not that hard to find college women losing in friendly soccer matches / kick offs to their school's male football or basketball teams. |

In almost every sport, the best women in the world would lose to high school boys. There are many sports where teen boys as young as 14-15 have faster times than the women’s world records.
Coed in high school is fine for fun and recreation but the girls aren’t going to be competitive against the boys. |
