Should cars be banned in DC?

Er, well, there's not even enough people using Capital Bikeshare for the program to break even. Taxpayers have kick in millions of dollars ever single year just to keep it alive.

I figure this might solve the problem of congress being too old if everyone has to take a bike.

It will be interesting to watch all the cyclists in DC when the temperature is 25 degrees with a wind chill temp of 18.
And, you expect the Congress members who live in VA or MD - 20+ miles from DC to bike to work?

People will be a lot fitter and thinner

And before people say that dc is thin…it’s still bigger than Paris or Milan

Even in the umc community - dc people pack a solid 20+ lbs more than their ses counterparts in Western Europe

Do you even hear how insufferable you sound?

“even in the UMC community….”

Because of course you know everyone in the region with a HI over $500k, right?

That's true about our road system as well. We keep shoveling money into it year over year and it never turns a profit!

This is the wrong place to ask this, OP. Did you know WMATA and the surrounding areas just changed all the bus routes last week? No, because nobody on DCUM takes the bus.

DC does not have the density to warrant this type of action. With the height limit DC sits in a position where it needs mass transit but has difficulties paying for it- ie enough density to need mass transit but not have enough density to finance what is needs. It is trapped in a goldilocks zone.

No Europeans are just as fat as Americans but they have more drinking problems.

Liar. No other country has FDA poisoned food the way we do. Hence, no one else is as sick as Americans are.

I knew. They have signs up at all the stops telling you the routes changed, get used to it.

DC likes to take away bus routes and reduce metro service.
probably to limit ramming attacks

In France the poor people live in suburbs . Crime is in the suburbs. If liberals want their utopia of everyone in dense locations only using public transit then they can’t allow rampant crime in cities and in public transit

Other major cities' bike share programs can pay for themselves. DC's system is unusual in that it needs to be propped up by taxpayers. The number of cyclists here though has been shrinking for years (unlike in other cities) so it makes sense.

I'm excited. One of the new routes will shorten my commute.

DC should not have building taller than than 10-12 stories. It is a national security concern for sensitive locations.

People do bike in those conditions. I am not sure this is the burn you think it is.

Yeah that’s nothing. The summer is actually worse.
