Iran's parliment approves closing of the Straight of Hormuz

It’s an attempt to draw China into the war and it may work.

The blockade would be broken in days and it would result in a major military escalation that would be supported by every nation in the Gulf, and frankly, the entire world that depends on Gulf oil. With the USS Gerald Ford set to be in the area in the coming days, that's three aircraft groups in the region. That is an unbelievable amount of firepower that Iran has no answer for. Their only rational response at this point would be to accept that their nuclear weapons program has come to an end and pursue a ceasefire. Any escalation that Iran pursues from here is going to be met with devastation for the Iranian regime.

And just last week, they completed a rail link specifically to move oil. So now China can get its oil without a water route.

So much of predicting the outcomes of any of this is like predicting the weather. Geopolitics is at least as complicated as atmospheric air masses and the further out you go the harder it is to predict anything.

Thankfully the region has a network of strategic bike lanes for all the RTO workers. Arlington also has a Vespa dealership for those that can't pedal.

This is the whole reason for the bombing if nothing—drive up oil prices and spend more on defense so billionaires get richer.

Thanks israel. We give you aid, provide you arms, fund your wars, and suffer the consequences because of it. Looking forward to all the economic consequences to follow.

I'd say this was actually Trump's 5D chess objective - but of course it wasn't. Just a side benefit to whatever it is that we're doing in the Middle East right now.

Gosh I wish there was a 5D chess situation. But instead I think there's just an easily manipulated, insecure dotard and a coterie of cartoon villains. God help us all.

Do we think Trump even knows how to play actual chess?

Absolutely not.

Finally, an intelligent observation.

Rail can move only an inconsequential amount of oil compared to oil tankers or pipelines.

What nonsense. China will wait for the Iranian regime to collapse and will get the same supplies from the successor regime.

I am sure people in DC will be able to afford the oil price. They were not the ones complaining about eggs.

Yes income inequality is the problem. No other explanation makes sense.

That's DCUM for you.

Don't forget to thank them for finally taking action to suppress the spread of violent Islamic Revolution from Iran. Or perhaps you preferred to wait for that cancer to spread more widely, which would have all kinds of financial and other benefits, no doubt.

^That's actually not true. A very unintelligent comment and an unitelligent responder.

UAE, Saudi and Qatar also use straight of hormuz

Iran can make it impossible for ships other than to China's to pass through. They can constantly harrass or comandeer ships passing through. A responder also pointed they also have have rail leaving the country on land to China as well.

We can do this the easy way or the difficult way.
