Excuse me? You think that having a job and a Y chromosome excuses you from school involvement? And then you have the unmitigated gall to come on here and yell your head off that your kid wasn't adequately feted by the school???

My kids' elementary, middle and high school PTAs all had/have fathers and mothers who worked. In fact, two out of the three had WORKING FATHERS as PTA Presidents!

Don't you dare complain if you were not involved. What a poor excuse for a parent you are. All entitlement and no community engagement. I hope your kids don't take after you.

SOME KIDS WILL NEVER EVER GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

WHY DIDN'T THEY DO ANYTHING?

I AM LEAVING FCPS. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK

Sorry to hear that… but it’s 8th grade. I’m not sure why everyone calls it graduation? Also, as a previous post stated, you could have done something about it by joining the PTA. And assuming your the post who stated that they are a dad and work, then… sorry to tell you… but we all do to provide! You aren’t special. If you are leaving FCPS because of this minor inconvenience, that’s quite childish. Very sorry your child did not get a gold medal or certificate for 8th grade. If you’re that worried about your kid not getting a reward, take them outside and reward them yourselves. Let them know how proud you are. I’m sure you are making a bigger deal about this than your child 😂

“Graduating” from 8th grade is not an accomplishment. I am glad FCPS does nothing

Why would there be?

I’m not. Our family really enjoyed promotion celebrations. Marking milestones is nice for parents and the kids are about to go from being the oldest at their current school to the youngest at a different, bigger school, with increased expectations, so a celebration is a nice part of that transition.

I don't know this school but that was my guess. A lot of things have to line up to host something- parents who will show up, kids who can behave, teachers who think it's a good idea, a space that's available and can accommodate, someone wiling to plan something worthy of taking everyone's time. It's a lot

I don't remember a promotion ceremony from MS to HS in the 1980's when I was in school. I remember my 6th grade promotion and HS graduation. A lot of schools do have an award ceremony for 8th graders who earned awards, but I think that is limited in size.

Whatever you read about that school is not always true. That is kids who like to act up and misbehave, but we can see that at any middle school in FCPS.
There want to be some wanna be gang memebers but they can do anything to do you if you don't mess with them. My kid is one of the white kids in at the end of the day is not a bad school.

Wow, some crazy people on here. No wonder the schools have problems with their progeny.
