WE DID NOTHING. WHY DIDN'T OUR SCHOOL DO ANYTHING FOR OUR 8TH GRADERS THAT ARE GRADUTING FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL?
SOME KIDS WILL NEVER EVER GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL. WHY DIDN'T THEY DO ANYTHING? I AM LEAVING FCPS. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK |
| Here's a cookie for your rising 9th grader. |
| The expectation for all FCPS kids is that they will graduate from high school. |
|
We are also leaving FCPS entirely. It’s not just Glasgow.
FCPS has turned into a total sh!+ show now. |
|
It drives me a bit crazy that ES and MS refer to promotion as graduation, no one graduates from ES or MS. They are promoted to the next grade, and in FCPS case, that means a new school. Promotion ceremonies are nice but not mandatory.
I am sorry that a decent percentage of kids will not complete HS but that is not a reason to hold a promotion ceremony for 8th grade. I suspect most schools don't do anything because they don't have the space to hold a promotion ceremony. There are too many kids and parents and guests for the MS spaces to handle. A lot of ESs hold a promotion ceremony for the 6th graders. |

1. Modern expectations are that everyone should graduate from high school. The few that do not have issues such that a minor 8th grade acknolwedgement is entirely irrelevant. 2. Every middle school has an acknowledgement of the 8th graders, not necessarily a ceremony or a party. I HIGHLY DOUBT your school did nothing, OP. In fact, I'm sure you're lying. Just don't expect a huge bash every time your kid moves up from school to school. That's not appropriate. Throw your own party if you're that desperate! 3. If you're leaving FCPS, I hope it's due to serious issues. This one isn't it. GET A GRIP. - parent of young adults and teens. |
| This is usually planned by the PTA. WHY DIDNT YOU JOIN THE PTA AND PLAN SOMETHING? |
|
I don’t blame you, OP.
Once the FCPS SB rams through the coming boundary adjustments next year, many more parents will also flee FCPS while they still can. |
I am a dad and I work |
Lolololol. The moms on the PTA also work 🙄 |
|
They didn't graduate. They finished one level of education and moved to the next. Not a big deal.
We've become a society that is too accustomed to handing out participation trophies for doing something that was expected. |
+1. We don’t even have a PTA and the parents were still able to organize a potluck party. |
Are you OP? If so, I felt kind of bad for you until this post. Not anymore. |
Just want to add that we all work. |
