Any coverage of local protests yet?

They are just denying.

There are protests everywhere, some small and many large. I don't know if we hit the so-called magic number of 3.5% of the population out protesting - but we may have.

Is Congress listening? Is the Supreme Court listening? Or are they still putting their fingers in their ears?

Why are the protestors overwhelmingly older (most seemed to be 50+) and white? I did not see many younger protestors (like college aged) along Rockville Pike. We know that age is most prone to protesting so where were they? I hope the college kids who are so hell-bent on protesting Israel and causing mayhem on college campuses would also attend these protests - to protest a cause that has more direct impact on their lives. I just didn't see them along Rockville Pike or other pictures I'm seeing from other protests.

Where were Hispanic people and black people? We know they do protests - why weren't they at this one in large numbers? Hispanics, I understand but why wasn't there a larger amount of black people protesting? Autocracy effects them just as much.

You’re joking right? You’re wondering why minorities might avoid showing up to protests when ICE is indiscriminately arresting people with no regard for their status in the country?

I said I understand why Hispanics wouldn't come out.

Black Americans said they were sitting this out earlier this year because they are a) tired, b) didn’t vote for the felon, so not their mess, and c) seem to attract police, which is violent, and then they get unfairly get blamed for violence.

I was in Chevy Chase and there were some Blacks and teens on the streets. But there were tons on Blacks driving by honking and with signs in the cars. There’s more than one way to protest. Lots of families also driving up and down with kids waving flags and honking horns.

We drove by several overpass protests on the beltway today. I wasn’t really expecting it but found it invigorating.

A friend reported a million protesters showed up in the rain to protest in Boston. DD said there were at least 5,000 at her suburban protest. My news feed says there ate huge crowds turning out all over the country to protest the fascist regime in DC.

Rockville pike seemed to have 2 miles of protesters.

Blacks have been sitting these protests out for months.

To get the attention, we need big names to draw the biggest crowd ever to DC.

If the Pope headlined the speakers. Ask for a lot of non violent etc..

Imagine the headlines. DC biggest protest ever. Filled from the Capital to the Lincoln memorial

That starts to grab attention

Otherwise, ppl become too busy or distracted or other.

We need GIANT headlines

DP. I fact checked with AI and that number is unsubstantiated. Organizers claim 2–5 million across 2,000+ events, with specific city estimates like 200,000 in Los Angeles and 100,000 in Philadelphia. Still a very impressive showing and significant in that it took place all over the country.

There were many Juneteenth celebrations already planned for the same day.

Noticed this too.

I want to be a protestor, but I'm a coward and fear getting caught in a dangerous situation if counter protestors cause violence, and in our current environment I fear authoritarian retribution for protesting against authoritarianism!
