This, and pro tip if you're hosting younger kids: Ask for it to be double cut. Smaller slices = less waste.

that's part of why we do ledo's pizza-tiny slices=less waste--of course you can always cut the typical 8 pizza slices in half.

Ledos little squares work well.

Della Barba on Capitol Hill is great because of this-- and is our first choice for any kids' party. Their NY style pizza is basically doublecut and is perfectly sized for kids <10.

Roll your eyes all you want, but we are foodies and wouldn't feel good giving guests crap food.

Dominos is not great, but it's decent and about $8 for a large pizza (pickup deal - go to their website and look through the discounts; delivery will be a bit more). The good independent pizza places near us are $20-$25; sometimes we go there and pay more for better pizza, but I definitely wouldn't do so for a kids party. Your preferences and finances may differ.

My kid's favorite cheap pizza for parties: Pizza Boli's

Her second choice is probably &pizza

Other good pizza but more $ than I personally spend on a kid's party:
Timber Pizza
Stellina
Andy's Pizza
Bacio

I'm probably less wealthy than you, but my preferences definitely differ. I wouldn't serve an $8 pizza to my dog. If it's $8, you know the quality of the ingredients is just total shite.

Local mom and pop or Pizza Hut.
Dominos is the bottom of the barrel.

Do you have kids, or have you ever been to a kid’s party? Half of them take one bite and most of the moms would never deign to eat pizza. Go ahead and spring for the premium option but it will likely be wasted.

Agree. Dominos and Papa John’s are so crappy.

At most of the birthday parties, most parents never ate the pizza if it was subpar. And you end up throwing out tons of food. Even Flippin pizza is better. Mama Lucia is pretty good.

My experience has been parents always eat no matter what the pizza is as long as it’s obvious that there is plenty of it. Many times i’ve been to birthday parties where the host parents have clearly not ordered enough to also feed the parents so even though there may be some left/its not enough for everyone to eat so none of the parents eat.

That being said Dominos is pretty gross-even my kids won’t eat it. All the others are fine. But logistically it doesn’t make financial sense to buy a bunch of $25 pizzas when you are MOSTLY feeding kids. The kids mostly don’t care. You are always going to have the couple of kids who take 1-2 bites no matter how good the pizza is and the couple of kids who can eat 5 pieces each no matter how low bar the pizza is. It’s like that no matter what.

Of course they don't eat YOUR pizza - it's low quality! If they knew you as a person who always served high quality food, they'd be gobbling it up.
