I think they mean if you drive a motor bike (scooter) be very careful. |
Aruba is full of Bostonians if that sways you either way (I’m one ![]() |
It's always a risk but generally Bermuda experiences more hurricane activity later in the summer/fall. The "crowds" are mostly from cruiseship passengers. There are a lot of beaches so you don't have to spend every day at the most popular ones that the cruise passengers all go to. I love Bermuda, and it's really convenient to get to now that the direct flights are back. |
We love Bermuda. Our trip last summer was impacted by a direct hurricane hit (we shifted our plans to the following week at no cost) but aside from the slim risk of a direct hit at the time of your trip you should be fine -- the island is elevated enough that flooding isn't much of a concern and they usually bounce back pretty quickly from a storm. |
Bermuda - so nice. We rented a lovel airbnb with a charging station for a Twizy and drove all over the island - so much fun.

Bermuda. The Reefs. |
Would you mind sharing the airbnb? Thanks!! |
I’d pick Aruba but only because of hurricanes. But if it were a different time of year or if you’re not concerned about that, pick Bermuda. I’ve been to both but Bermuda was quieter and more laid back. Definitely more romantic, imho. We rented an Airbnb near the Reef resort and went there for dinner a couple of nights.
Aruba was fun but more lively. It felt more like a family destination. We stayed at the Divi resort there. |
I loved the wind in Aruba. Plus, it’s out of the hurricane belt. But much longer to get to. |
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/11809142?source_impression_id=p3_1749846827_P33v7rUSu1ZYMCY7 It was perfect size for two people and it came with full kitchen. It's right in the middle of the island, so having the Twizy was good for getting to either side (the historic St George area is on one end of the island and the more modern/commercial Hamilton is on the other side of the island), but it's centrally located once you have one. You can also walk down to the bus that picks up at the bottom of the hill, but we found the convenience of the Twizy so nice. The owner's pool was also perfect. The Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo is about a 15 minute walk down from the cottage and is fantastic - it's small by American standards but it was completely devoid of most people when we went and you can get pretty close to the animals. The animals seem quite well-cared for. There's also a cute restaurant right across the street from the Aquarium/Zoo called Village Pantry that you can have a very good meal and watch the sunset over the little harbor that's right there. Enjoy! |
My law school bff almost died on a Scooter in Greece. Super dangerous. |
Bermuda is on our short list for a quick getaway. We will likely stay at Cambridge Beaches. |
Op here. This place looks perfect! Sadly it’s taken for the days we are going. But will save it for future reference! |
Bermuda - 2hr flight! Cambridge Beaches is gorgeous but at the far end of the island. The Hamilton Princess and Beach Club is walkable to the ferry and town and while on the harbor rather than beach, has an awesome beach club they’ll take you to. |
Is Bermuda a fun vacation with older teens? |
