You lost all credibility when you voted for a man who called anyone in the service suckers and losers.

Totally agree.
There was a thread on this topic a couple years ago. It died a slow death because it was bullshit. This one will too.

+1
And then installed a drunken racist rapist who got passed over for Lt Col and ran a veteran non-profit into the ground to lead the defense department.

No politician has offended or insulted my military family more than Trump.

So I guess the left will finish the job by calling the military-- literally the first public institution in America to be racially integrated-- racist.

For example, I remember a new commander asking a very senior leader how he can share “his faith” with his troops if they came to him for help because his faith was “important to him.” The very senior leader basically said it’s ok for your faith to be important to you, but it doesn’t belong in the office because you run the risk of alienating people who have a different faith. Faith guy seemed offended (as they frequently and easily are) but I was thrilled that the senior leader was so reasonable and matter of fact.

Once saw a new Lt Col hang a Gadsden Flag on his base house. Ridiculous. It didn’t last long, I suspect the professional and apolitical highest ranking officer on base told him to take it down.

By the end of our time there, I learned that the new highest ranking person on base was an evangelical trumper and sharing this with the local business leaders . Huge foul. Wildly unprofessional. Won the hearts of the local community that was evangelical trump country, but outrageously unprofessional.

And that was just his first term. It’s gotten so much worse.

Why would the colonel take down a Gadsden flag? It is a historically proper flag flown proudly throughout the US representing pushback to British tyranny.

So glad this era of liberal censorship has ended. May Biden’s silencing never again occur.

How is it historically proper? Is a confederate flag also historically proper?

You are seriously questioning how a flag that celebrates our revolution against Britain is proper?! I have no idea how to respond to such idiocy. Do you not understand that this flag is flown all over the country? That it is a flag of the marines and navy?

Ancient history. The flag has now been appropriated by extreme right wingers, tea partiers and Trumpists and a symbol of their "movement", mistakenly thinking they are like the patriots of old, which we all know isn't true.

Think of the swastika being appropriated by the Nazis.

Wrong. A bunch of Biden era progressive wackos tried to paint that picture but the Gadsden continues to fly without issue, it’s a sign of liberty and it’s disgraceful to suggest it’s anything like a Nazi flag. Thank goodness your point of view has fallen by the wayside.

I mean.. between Hegseth and the embarrassing Oval Office scene with Zelensky..who is actually fighting a war .. how can you insult the military more?

The Gadsden is on license plates in twelve (!) states. Get a life, censors.

The military reflects its leadership — and the administration is working hard to rapidly change that leadership and culture. Trump —bone spurs and all — and Hegseth are no President Truman.

Our revolutionary war flags are bad, white men are bad, military is bad.

And then the democrats wonder why the SAM initiative is so ridiculed.

No, that’s your reading comprehension problem and your own agenda.

What we’re saying is that white nationalism is increasing in the military and that’s a problem. This is not news to anyone who has been paying attention. It’s increasing everywhere and the military is not immune. But due to the nature of its function, its rise in the military is especially problematic.

I know, I know: too much nuance for MAGA.

These are the same people who told us that flying the American flag is racist, tried to cancel 4th of July, and constantly break their promises to move to Canada. They absolutely hate America and everything she stands for, so of course the Gadsden flag is a "symbol of white supremacy" to them. They think the same of the stars and stripes.

Yeah, guys, don't do this. These different organizations - military, police, etc. - are made up of the human race. You will have amazing people and you will have jerks in every profession. Please don't stereotype and lump all people together because of their chosen career. Strive for the professionalism and excellence mentioned by another poster (ex military?). Those who are exceptional -- lift those folks up and honor them. For those who aren't -- address inappropriate behavior and don't let it fester. Just like anywhere else.

Thank goodness people have their eyes opened to this pattern of behavior by the progressive censors. The idea that Gadsden flag shouldnt be flown is patently absurd and stems from an anti Americanism people profoundly reject.

You have presented no evidence at all to support the notion that white nationalism is increasing in the military. You just hate the US because you believe we are a systematically racist nation, and by extension, you believe anyone who would sign up for her military is racist. That isn't evidence. That's neurotic spiraling.

But I do think you should share your concerns with people. Let everyone around you know that what you really think the government should focus on right now is making sure that servicemembers think like you, or at least pretend to.
