Responded directly to a claim made about Lula and what she has done for women and the community. But ok, move those goal posts. |
Wow! You sound crazy. She has some great female hires. And for what it’s worth, it’s hard to keep coaches, female or otherwise. There is a lot of turnover in the travel coaching biz. |
To your first point, name them... To your second, that is true. Again, was answering the assertion that she has been good for women and the community. I would argue that its pretty telling where the club is now vs where it was before the SYC exodus. They aren't attracting the top coaches or ones with licenses. There's a reason. |
You are comparing apples and oranges. Two very different value propositions. One is a community club, the other is a win at all costs destination super club. Both serve a different demographic and target customer. Syc hired away two of their coaches last year, one of which is GA coach. By your logic he wasn't a "top" coach until he joined SYC a year ago. |
Just keeping track of 11 directors over 7 years and posting about that makes you sound over invested/ slightly crazy. I will share a personal opinion though, since they joined ECNL RL, you can gain a real sense of what the club can or cannot do. And by looking at their public ECNL RL record this year, you can truly see how they are doing as a club (in comparative sense to other clubs). Unfortunately, those records are unflattering up and down the board for boys and girls. And now because of that, it is tougher to attract serious coaches. But yes, you’re comparing apples to oranges. LMVSC = grassroots and bridge to travel/ community sports program/ there is a slot for every player at every level. -vs- SYC= type A winning is everything/ they want national level success in MLS Next and GA/ slots are not offered to all players at tryouts. LMVSC is doing good things, hiring talented travel Coaches is hard, keeping them around is even harder. |
Lmvsc is a community club because she didn't want to pay the crew that went to SYC. The clubs were basically opposite in terms of soccer prior to that. It's a small club because of her. |
11 directors in 7 years can be two things in my opinion. 1) Very poor decision making in hiring practices and 2) she can be very difficult to work with and unable to keep own talent that she decided to hire. |

Look at BRYC, DCSC, McLean, GFR
All have turn over - every club does. SYC guys - move on |
| The coaching overall is good, club is organized and communicates well. They just can’t attract top talent (it goes the other way as others have mentioned) past a certain age other than an occasional family that has been disillusioned by the mega clubs and said f it because it’s close to their house. |
