Stay in AAP for 4th?

I think having already had a successful year in AAP with principal placement works to your advantage. But, yes, it's year by year. This is why, when my daughter was pupil placed in Advanced Math in 3rd grade, we applied again that year so that she could guarantee her spot and not have to hope every year that she'd be offered a place.

Is there infomation about principal placement on FCPS website? My daughter, a 2nd grader, is waiting for the AAP appeal decision. I want to know more information about principal placement in case she is rejected. Thank you.

It's school by school. Our school placed the level 3 and/or advanced math kids in the class. There's no official process, once they have final decisions for where the level IV kids are going (after the appeals are done and parents accept/decline and pick local or center), then the principal at their discretion can fill out the class with more kids. You get notice to opt in a few weeks before the school year starts. It doesn't always happen at every school and the placement is only good for that year.

My child didn’t get in 🥸
I also didn’t receive anything regarding part-time placement.
Does this mean he’s no longer eligible for either part-time or full-time AAP?
Or, if he qualified for part-time in 3rd grade, can he still be placed in 4th grade part-time—just in case he doesn’t get in through the principal’s full-time referral?
