Stay in AAP for 4th?

Do students who were placed in AAP as a principal replacement in 3rd grade continue in AAP for 4th grade, or are they pulled out?

I applied for my kid but didn’t get in. I’m now waiting for the appeal result, but I’m not very optimistic. I want to buy 4th grade school supplies, but I’m not sure if I should get them for AAP or ge class.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

He scored in the 99th percentile on i-Ready in both reading and math, and got a 140 on the CogAT. But honestly, I submitted a really weak work samples After I submitted it, my kid sarcastically said, “These look like average samples from AAP students! 😂🙊

I would not worry about it. The regular classes are fine.

And AAP isn’t all that.

Principal Placement is year by year.

TROLL - what school has separate supply lists for normal and AAP classes? And what school has supply lists out in May?

Plenty of schools have different lists because it is a different group of teachers. We were at a language immersion school and the LI classes had different lists then the Gen Ed calsses. It is not hard to imagine that the same might be true for AAP classes vs Gen Ed classes.

Our school has separate lists.

Our school offers pre-order supply kits and those were available to order for next year starting end of April. We’re a center school and you select AAP or base for the grade bc the supply lists are different.

Gen-ed vs AAP. Different curriculum, different supply list. Gen-ed is a lighter curriculum, so fewer supply needs. What's so difficult to understand here?

Good thing you aren’t applying to get in.

This wasn't the case at our AAP center. Grade supply list was the grade supply list, no differences. The gen ed kids did the same projects as the AAP kids, only the teachers basically gave them more support and assistance along the way (the teachers told me this, so I know it to be true).

DP. As with everything, it varies by school. Our center has not posted a supply list yet to my knowledge so I doubt PP is at the same school, but I recall from last year that some but not all grades had a separate AAP supply list. The difference was minor though, like an additional notebook and less flashcards or whatever.

Scores seem high enough to me. I don’t know what you consider a weak work sample. Proncipsl placekent is only for that year. Even subject specific AAP is year by year. Wait and see where your child is placed before buying supplies.

Why are you concerned about school supplies right now? Im sure 95% of the list is the same anyway. This is a weird post.

To answer your question, principal placement will happen a few weeks before school begins, and will depend on the makeup of the rest of the classes. You'll have to wait and see.

Buy the GE school supplies. If you're missing something you can pick it up later.

+1. Anxiety shows up in unexpected ways. It's healthy to recognize it as such.
