His team is using about 6 guest players and he isn't playing much

Name the club and coach. This is precisely why youth soccer stinks in this country. On top of that you are paying a fee that is NOT low. Especially in this economy.

Season lasts forever! I saw it's been posted, but holy moly. Playing fall ECNL girls, then breaking for HS, then starting again this week as HS wraps up to train for playoffs. Won't be over until July!

And then, starts again in August! WTF.

I find it odd how early the season ends for non playoff teams and how loooooooong it can go for playoff teams.

Is it a reward? Punishment?

In some way, the clubs that play a hybrid fall-spring season with no HS soccer or Fall HS has a nice advantage of playing together a lot going into playoffs. Out club completely stops practicing to allow the girls to play Spring HS or play on a combined team or even in some case train with the USL-W squad, but it's always rough getting back together to train for a few weeks before playoffs.

It’s way too long! DD plays ECNL and at the middle school level it’s two games against each opponent. I’m so happy for her to age out of that next year. And then playoffs and it seems that the season never ends.

My son plays ecnl-rl and the spring season was just a few games, that ended weeks ago. All the tournaments were in March. They are still practicing but frankly it doesnt seem like much value.

SYC GA is a long way off from where the parents thought they’d be.

A haiku:

Only lost 6 times
But never beat a great team
We are mostly trash

Soccer season went great.

DD does MSI classic and its two practices a week and local games. Enough that it’s fun but she also has time to do track and two instruments. And we have two other kids and were able to get them to their various activities without too many conflicts.

Practices are a bit of a pain to get to because of traffic but once I am there I use it dog walking time.

DP Our roster grew a ton this spring season. My kid used to start/play most of the game. Now all the new players are taking precedent. No idea where they came from. Late season additions.

Practices randomly cancelled w/out warning. It’s might a d day from the Fall. We were very happy in the Fall so accepted spot for next year back in March. Now starting up have regrets…

All these little kids going to supplemental small group training is crazy.

If it makes anyone feel better, DS made a few MLSNext teams and did

Not do any of those. Lots of free soccer play (many siblings and cousins to play with) outside of team practices though.

I think this is the issue for many kids. There aren't other kids to do free play with. Mine play recess at soccer, but outside of that there aren't neighborhood kids who want to kick a soccer ball around. They all play lacrosse, football, basketball, and/or hockey. If we want to get kids together who enjoy soccer it has to be this planned thing where the parents coordinate and decide on a location. So might as well just sign up for something where the schedule is predictable. It stinks.

This is my problem too.

I do love that my kids chose to play with a big group daily at recess though!

But he isn’t at their level either. Because he took a break and did a couple of seasons of flag football and swim. So.

One suggestion is to make friends with other players/families at these organized sessions and agree to stay a half hour longer for the kids to just play on their own, assuming access to the field/space is public.

If you’re on this complaining train then STOP PLAYING. You are doing all of this voluntarily. Don’t ruin it for us who want to train. So tired of parents who ruin it for everyone else.

I wonder if these kids added in spring even pay anything

Probably not, but better get used to it early as opposed to later.
