Girl, bye. Hardy students were high all last year (don’t remember the edibles debacle???) and this year too. |
Drug use is incredibly rare in middle school, despite what pearl clutchers would have you believe. Less than half of high schoolers have even tried drugs. |
Yes. I don't doubt that there are a few middle schoolers who use drugs, but I have my own middle schooler and I'm 💯 sure that he does not, and has not been exposed to them in a social situation. High school is another story. |
I agree with you. Some people don't believe that teens are vaping and other things. Why don't they put police dogs at the entrance of schools since the metal detector doesn't work for weed .The police are outside the schools but they do nothing, Tenleytown is Full of kids smoking weed and vendors selling to other students. |
Of the 630 students at Hardy, how many do you think have every been high at school? 5? 10? maybe 15? How many are regularly high at school? 0-5? All I can say is that I spend *a lot* of time around a broad range of Hardy students, and I don't see it. I'm not trying to be pollyanna about teen drug use, but I do object to the casual way which OP stuck Hardy in with a couple of HS in very different circumstances. I asked my 8th Grade DC about their awareness of drug use at or around Hardy, and they said, "I hear rumors." That's it -- hasn't seen it or otherwise witnessed it. If you or your kids are aware of a lot of drug use at Hardy, than you are hanging in a diferent crowd than me and my kid. |
MacArthur kids They are always hiding around the school doing drugs without any supervision from the school. All day long they in the surroundings because the school does not call the parents if they are absent.I have a couple of videos and I'm going to send them to the Department of Education because the principal is a good-for-nothing. He doesn't care if these criminals are sharing dangerous drugs with other students. |
Why is this DCPS’ responsibility? There are parents who let their kids use drugs, and that’s their choice. Focus on raising your own kids. |
How do you know those kids actually go to MacArthur? They could be enrolled in a charter across town. |
|
Just check behind the Safeway. They gather there |
You live in the city. Your child has been exposed to drugs!!! You have a nose right? So funny people think that drugs are pot. How many of you dose your kids on ADHD medication to get YOU through the day? I know I know your darling angel was diagnosed and you didn't push it with the ped and pad shop until you got a script. |
Teenagers often use drugs. Anyone reading this is most likely not defending that usage. But this type of demand is equivalent to saying that DCPS should get rid of poverty. I think things might be more complicated than you understand. |
DCPS robocalls parents if your kid is absent and not excused. Most parents don’t care or don’t answer or give a wrong phone number. |
Off-topic, but if a human called rather than a robot, the calls would be far more effective. Nobody wants to be robocalled about anything. And if DCPS were serious about truancy, they would bother to make a small effort. |
Humans do call for absences but not for the first one. We ended up with an excused absence for a family funeral but first call was a robot; second was a human from the school; third was the principal. I wish that if a kid is absent the call went out at 10 am vs. 7 pm. My children are young but finding out at 7 pm my teenager didn't make it to school is too late. |
