Are your kids doing anything at school now?

My kid in ES is still learning. They actually tell me what they did each day and the teacher sends weekly email.

My 6th grader has math SOL today. They are learning about the Civil War and doing Benchmark Unit 8.

My HSer is doing nothing. It is kind of pathetic that this is the way FCPS does the end of the year

3rd grade SOL are done. Field trip this week but otherwise continuing on with math, LA and social studies per latest teacher email.

K is basically done. A lot of "fun" year end activities are planned.

High schools should end after the last AP exam make up date.

Mine have an SOL today, so yes.

They are still learning and taking exams in 7th grade. It is a refreshing change from the continual ‘movie’ days at elementary.

My freshman is slammed with final year work now such as: independent research project in Biology, final English project, final exams in history (still reading and taking notes for the last unit), geometry, and foreign language. It’s unreal.

I am still teaching new content in all but one of of my math classes. It’s too long and deadly if I stop. The one that I’m not is having the review class tomorrow and then a unit test. It was about 1/3 seniors so a part of the class is already gone. I’m not giving homework in any classes anymore though. It’s all class work from here until the end.

my kids will get exposed to some algebra 2 concepts and get a refresh on factoring polynomials along with completing the square. I will go over some geometry proofs and we will switch it up to the quadratic formula proof.

we will continue reviewing for our 40 question, comprehensive final as well.

So confused by the people who think all instruction ends in mid May. We have these kids for 3.5 more weeks. Yes we are filling the time. My students are reading Frankenstein. They still have a major essay left to do. We are busy up til the last couple days. I’m not sitting with bored aimless teenagers for weeks on end

The elementary days did end upon taking the SOLs. But MS seems to keep teaching beyond that test with notes and tests.

ES teacher here. Learning is happening still. We are in the middle of a Benchmark unit, need to finish SS and are finishing a math unit. Stop this narrative. If your child has done nothing after SOLS that is a school/teacher problem.

+1000, it’s not the norm in ES to goof off for 3 weeks after SOL. Very few teachers want that because it gets extremely hard to manage their behaviors. Almost all the teachers I know work right up until the last week.

I do agree the last week is normally filled with finishing up any work, cleaning up, and celebrations..
