Omaha swings from R+30 to D+13 mayoral election

It's more than a bit disconcerting that people here don't understand that there's a difference between local politics and presidential elections. That local politicians can win on local issues does not mean voters across multiple swing states will get behind Democrats' unpopular national agenda.

Omaha is kind of conservative, but they are sane and educated. I happy about this but not totally shocked.

Omaha is interesting because there's a big flock of people from high COL states moving to the big cities and outskirts of big cities in lower COL states. I have several friends who have moved to Omaha recently from DC and NYC. There was even a thread on the Off Topic board asking why so many people were moving on Omaha.

I just visited my good friend's who moved to Omaha, and honestly? It's not a bad area at all. I was shocked. It's a big city and gives off big city vibes. Plus, the house they bought would easily be over $1mil in our area and they closed $30k under asking at $385k. They moved from a condo in Reston that was $440k and that is all they could afford in this area.

Looks like you have a 40 plus shift towards the Democrats and a newly elected Democratic mayor, Omaha. And Omaha did that all by themselves. Dcum posters had nothing to do with it. Go omaha!

They may be able to impeach him, but to what end. The Senate will never convict.

I’d be happy if they just put the brakes on all his craziness.

They can impeach him because it's the right thing to do. They can also just keep him busy defending himself until he fulfils his destiny of dying on the toilet.

It is also important for our democracy to have a record of impeachable offenses acted upon so they don't become excuses for others to do it too. So impeaching in the House is important even if the Senate is too corrupt to remove.
