Omaha swings from R+30 (2021) to D+13 (2025) in mayoral election, rejecting incumbent.

In Omaha Dems have 40-33 edge in party affiliation (54%-45% if you ignore independents), but this time independents in Omaha split 60-40 in favor of the Democrat John Ewing Jr.

Middle class people in middle America with moderate political views are sick of modern MAGA and MAGA-enabling Republicanism.

Omaha is kind of conservative, but they are sane and educated. I happy about this but not totally shocked.

So it sounds like Trump will be out of office in 2027. That’s the conclusion I guess I should draw by the mayoral election in Omaha, Nebraska.

Why wouldn’t congress impeach him the second their term starts if they have a majority?


Isn’t that the whole point of having a dem majority in Congress? To impeach trump? What else are they going to do with a majority?

They may be able to impeach him, but to what end. The Senate will never convict.

I’d be happy if they just put the brakes on all his craziness.

You need 2/3rds of the Senate.

It's interesting that it takes an extremist in office (of any political stripe) to swing the center to the opposite side. Otherwise people don't pay attention and are pretty complacent.

Elderly incompetent presidents do a great job of swinging voters to the other side and diving them out to vote. Saw this in 2020 and 2024

Also the first POC elected as mayor. I think that is a firm rejection of Trump administration racism.

No poop. He drove a lot people out to vote against him in 2020 just like Biden did in 2024.
