Eh have you ever seen tryouts at Loudoun or Arlington or a similar sized club? Kids totally do fall thru the cracks. Some never get evaluated. |
Agreed. In fact I’ll take it a step further. If you didn’t hear within 2-3 days it’s a hard “no!” Most clubs do not take the time to write rejection notices. If they wanted your DC they’d definitely let you know and fast. Move on and take another offer if you have one. Otherwise back to rec until next years tryouts. |
| It really depends. Based on our experience, the time varied from 0 (during the tryout) to 5 days |
Yes, kids played for Arlington, McLean. |
You're wrong (and rude). I've posted this elsewhere, but my kid was invited to try out for a top team. Didn't realize that formal offer had fallen through the cracks until coach followed up to see why we hadn't accepted offer--because we hadn't received one. Club rectified quickly. Other kid went to tryouts, didn't receive an offer, then I got an email from coach begging him to try out for the team. When I pointed out that he'd been at tryouts, we heard nothing, and accepted another offer, radio silence. These clubs have dozens and dozens of kids in their system, and it's very easy for someone to miss hitting a button. |
I agree. DS is u17. When younger the tryouts were cattle calls at some big clubs. We eventually learned to train with the team before showing up to open tryouts. |

DS practiced with a few clubs and got offers from most of them on the same day. For open tryouts for other activities, we hear back within a couple of days. If a coach asks ur DS name or compliments them (at least according to your son), that’s a good sign.
This is for one son. The other one, usually dead silence or we don’t hear back until I follow up. It is what it is. |
