How long for an offer?

Anonymous
It's been 6 days since tryouts wrapped and we haven't heard a peep. At the risk of sounding pushy, I emailed the club's age group director today but didn't get a response. Does this mean our player is still being considered? Do teams always give a definitive answer in Playmetrics, Yes/ No? We've been at the same club for several years and this was our first attempt to move. Honestly, tryouts for the team were super competitive and a second round offer would still be welcomed here. No ego getting in the way. Thanks!

What Club is not responsive?

It seems some clubs have twice weekly coaches meetings where they hash out stuff like roster slots. Some clubs are poorly run where there is not much accountability for individual coaches. I'd out them here and also e-mail the Director of Coaches and ask for an official reply. It's possible they are working out final slots, but it is equally possible your kid got lost in the shuffle.

I feel like at our club the tryouts did not sync up at all with the offers and it felt more disorganized than last year... I am almost 100% certain they did not get back to all the kids who came out to our tryouts.

In general, I think most clubs offer within 48 hours for those they truly want - especially this time of year. They will want to lock down players to round out their rosters. If you haven't heard, then most likely your kiddo isn't being considered for the first round/first team. Or they already have plenty of whatever position they play. That doesn't mean they won't get an offer. It just means they are waiting to see who commits and see what will happen at other tryout rounds. If they have no other tryouts scheduled, then most likely they have the rosters completed. Most of the bigger clubs started tryouts in February. So whomever they add between now and summer is really only if they had a lot of offers declined. Just my two cents.

Your kid did not get an offer. If you have other options go ahead and exercise them now.

Do you have a backup offer from your current club?

Sounds like your kid is a backup if anyone in the first round declines. If they were a "no," you would most likely've gotten a firm response.

After the final tryout, if you have not heard anything, then you are not receiving an offer. The only time kids will is during the summer when 1-3 players may drop out of a team. Happens all the time.

7 days since tryouts and they didn't reply to an email from yesterday?

How many teams in your kids age group?

What are your other options?

Yikes, I can’t believe you reached out to them. Not only is your kid at the end of the list but now you’re “that Mom“.

Our ID session was 2 weeks ago and my daughter and a few others got her offer two days ago.

Ridiculous comment.
I would have emailed after three days. Kids get lost in the shuffle sometimes.

Not a troll at all. My kids been playing soccer for eight years. If you don’t hear within 48 hours, you’re a bubble player. Kids do not “fall through the cracks“. That’s just ridiculous.
