Republicans propose that Canadians bail out US economy.

Why are Republicans letting Canadian "snowbirds" come and steal our land? This globalist menace is invading our country and making housing unaffordable.

Any thoughts on Airbnb, real estate purchases by China, and corporations purchasing massive numbers of single family homes that you’d care to share?

I bet Disney will still have a banner year full of Canadians and Brits. People are all talk.

Maybe. We'll see but I don't know. Saying this as a compliment, Canadians are stubborn AF.

Thank you, Canada for doing the right thing. Hopefully we’ll see you back here in 4 years. In the meantime, I may just go visit you as a token of my appreciation.

Your ambassador to Canada explaining how there will still be tariffs but we can rebuild a stronger relationship: “Yeah, we had a few rough months and those types of things. But we have strong economic ties, we have strong national security ties, we have personal ties. … There is so much to this foundation. We will be stronger in the future, and watching the prime minister and the president, they both want that same outcome.”

Reminds me of an abusive partner coming back to say sorry with the tail between their legs while at the same time continues to put you down in a passive aggressive way.

The damage is done.

We booked a vacation to Canada for this summer long before all this madness. Then we worried about how we would be received even though we didn't vote for this. Then we decided that not going would only hurt someone who is just like we are . . . a working person trying to make their way in this world. We love Canada and I hope the Canadian people still love at least some of us. We are going to repair our friendship at some point (hopefully soon). Please trust that.

Canadians are big mad now, and it takes a lot to get them mad.

If the USA is a person (it isn't) then Trump would be a malignant brain tumor (he is), and Canada is right to want to hope that they can have rewarding relationship with USA after the tumor is eradicated.

Yeah: Nah. That was the hope after Trump’s first go at the presidency. And with Biden, the relationship between our countries righted itself. Then Trump was elected again, and came out of the gate even worse than before. Think about that using your analogy PP. Let’s assume the best — whatever that looks like in the short term. Why would Canada —or any country — trust their safety and overall well-being to country that knowingly elected a rabbit Trump a second time? Four years or even 8 years is likely not enough time to rebuild a deliberately and capriciously broken trust.

I’m betting that Canada joins the EU.

Rabid —not “rabbit” — although with Trump’s hippity hop flip flopping, that could work too.

Off to search shutting off the word replacement feature that keeps alternating my posts. 😤

My Canadian relatives are visiting me at the end of the month. Loud comments last summer about not coming if Trump is elected, but they are coming anyways.
