We've been looking at other options, and she is definitely gravitating towards single-sex schools. I would love for her to have options beyond Holton/NCS. Do any of you have experience with being a Jewish student at the DMV Catholic schools? Does one feel like an oddball or is it not really a thing?

I would assume it varies based on the school. Right now we're open to them all (Stone Ridge, AHC, Holy Child, Visi) and would love to hear people's thoughts. My mother actually grew up Catholic and went to Holy Cross back in the day so I have a general sense of the cultural milieu. But how does a Jewish kid fit into that?

You are an idiot
AHC and Holy child are anti Jew period.
Maga haven
Not better than public at all do not teach science as well or math.
AHC academics are lower than Holy Child slightly better college acceptance however both teach to Catholicism which they should but you as a Jew should not want that for your kid.
.
And no your child will not fit in
My child a Jew played soccer with AHC girls from age 10-18 those families are Jew haters. They are also racist.i can prove this by my a facebook as every day I see these people spewing online. Why have I kept them as a reminder to myself that ai did not pay enough attention when my kid played soccer with them.

My DD went to public school and MIT, her acceptances were CMU , Stanford etc. her peers from soccer York college, west Virginia University, no college, MC, a few Catholic small colleges etc..

Again find your brain.

I thought MAGA loved Israel. You sound seriously disturbed.

Supporting Israel does not mean that MAGA loves Jews.

I don't know anything about these schools, but you can purport to love Israel and still hate Jews, as Trump demonstrates.

It’s a whole other topic and not germane to this conversation, but progressive, contemporary Judaism accepts patrilineal descent and there’s conversion. I don’t think this forum is the right place to tell people that they can or cannot call themselves Jewish. That’s between them and their rabbi.

Based on our experience at Saint Anselms, I think it depends on whether the religious aspect of the school is an intellectual pursuit or a dogmatic one.

Check out St. Andrew’s. They have a pretty decent Jewish population and a Jewish affinity group. I have taught many students who go on to SAES and love it there and are very welcomed.

OP, have you considered Madeira? All girls, definitely has day students from MoCo.

I am mid 50s from another state and we had Jewish students in my all-girls school. It is nothing new.
In this area, it is quite common for non-Catholics to attend Catholic schools. I have DC at two different Catholic high schools and the atmosphere of Catholicism is quite different between the two. Reach out to the schools and have DC tour or do a shadow day.

I hope you find a great fit for DC.

This - definitely look at Madeira.

Have experienced none of that behavior over the entire time my daughter has been at Madeira. OP, you should give it a look.

Not in high school.

I’m Episcopalian too. This is good to know.

Not in high school.

Are you saying the constant required religion classes don’t get old in HS? Because that’s going to be kid dependent. Or are you saying there aren’t constant required religion classes in HS? Because that’s not true at many Catholic HS - it’s common for religion to be a core class required every semester. I haven’t looked up every school mentioned by OP to know if they all do, but many Catholic schools do.

I’m not in TX so can’t speak to any schools there, but my DC has been in Catholic high school and found the student and teachers welcoming.
