Why? Like, seriously - why? That’s weird. I’m not talking about for events, like movies on the lawn or fireworks or a concert or something. I’m talking about picnicking by yourself, apart from anyone, absent an event, at 9:30 at night. Laying down in the grass.

The mt vernon trail area has a lot of wide grassy areas along the river where you can sit with a view of DC. This story is not odd whatsoever, it is not some trail deep in the woods. Your victim blaming here is really bizarre though.

No one is victim blaming. Just explaining why these people are in the park after it was closed. Parks close at dusk.

According to the search warrant affidavit, police also found a beer can left at the scene and Surida nearby with five beers of the same brand in a 12-pack box.

Apparently, the alleged suspect was working his alleged way through an alleged 12-pack in the alleged park.

There is an older black gentleman that has been strutting around Old Town since the early 90s. He wears a Drs. lab coat. He has some sort of affliction (don't we all?) that is seems like a hint of Tourette's and a hint of Aspergers. He's harmless and has been a fixture for ever.
