My DC got a 2014 pre academy 1 offer this am by email

We are still considering trying out other places over the next week, but as the op mentioned the 48-hour response time may push us to accept

May I ask how you prepared your DC for the tryouts? Or is your DC just naturally confident? My kid completely blew tryouts because of shyness, and I don’t know how to prevent that next time. Would going to all sorts of tryouts help or just make it worse?

Only 48 hrs to decide???

If this is true, this is bad on club to not have relayed a timing of offers to current team members. We have not been told anything.

Because they need 48 hours to know how many new kids are taking spots before they can tell you if your kid is returning. Seems normal. Yes it sucks, but also seems normal.

OP, if you want more time you may have to gamble on giving up this spot, because they will need to move on to other families in the meantime.

This isn't the case with every coach but usually the coach would have talked to you already if there was a possibility that your kid was going to be moved down or up if not on top team.

When did 2015 get an academy team? Get over yourself, Messi.

Girls or boys 2014?

48 hours is just a mimic. They don't expire. Take your time if need it.

Assuming top team

Looks like they have a pre academy 1 and a 2 based on their coaches

Any kid that they give an offer to and excepts means someone on the team won’t get a roster spot So they probably want to know asap so they can tell the kid that is being moved down. The 14s and 16s both are expanding rosters because they are going to 9v9 and 11v11

2014 has one more year at 9v9. Are the top 2014s playing 11v11 somewhere in addition to 9v9 in the VPSL? If so, and they are expanding rosters because of it, then they will have a lot of kids on the bench at their VPSL games.

Yes this year the preacademy for u12 had 15 or 16 kids and played mostly 11v11. With some vpsl games 9v9. The top team really shouldnt be playing in VPSL at all but that is a different topic. It should be the second team which will be the RL team because the majority of other teams in vpsl are RL teams.

easy, its the top team
the PP should take that offer as its for the first team or at least pay deposit to hold spot

“…a timing of offers to current team members.” Your child is not safe. Your child is not guaranteed a spot. You child could be cut. If you are on a lower team, please try out other places so you have a plan. You just might love a new club better.

I am guessing its on the Girls side. They are always adding more kids from outside then promoting from within for u littles. Boys do it some but not at the scale of the girls teams.

Not entirely true. Arlingtons 2015 boys team is built on a collection of all star calibre players from other clubs that were recruited to complement their already strong team. And as you would expect - the results followed.

The 2015B team is amazing. They play up a year in NCSL 2014 top division and are currently 2nd to the 1st place 2014B Arrington Red team.
