This will be devastating for those without the funds to participate in medical tourism. |
News Flash: We’re indeed the world leader in having the most chronically diseased population. |
I really wonder if people who make comments like this have no family or friends. Honestly. My cousin was diagnosed at 30 with breast cancer. She's now 50. Science has kept her alive for 20 years. Not in remission - no, she's not been that lucky, but alive and fighting for 20 years. Alive and watching her 3 kids grow up. She's been in countless trials over the years. Some were duds but many have worked and helped keep her going over the years. We may not have cured cancer, but we've come a long, long way. |
I’m terrified for our universities |
Adding ^ we just consolidated departments to adjust to grant cuts, how to even begin to deal with this? The laboratory based departments and programs will fold. |
I know a professor in nursing at a major school. She has been getting grants for years, but she has been all over the world with these grants. Speaking here, speaking there.
And she acts like this is ok. Retirement, teach a couple of classes, get grants to travel. How do I get a grant? |
Science and medical innovation are great; we just don't want to pay for it with taxes. I never understood why Doctors and Insurance companies weren't required to pay for research as part of their professional obligation. Why do we have to pay for the research that corporations then run through medical trials and then only the Doctors can prescribe to us. Nine times out of ten with all of the fabulous research, we can't afford this stuff anyway. Only those with the gold level insurance plans can afford that stuff. |
Why are 50% of Medicare and Medicaid recipients obese or overweight? It would cost nothing for them to eat less. Just eat carrots and lentils and their health would improve a lot, for pennies a day. |
Step 1: have a useful, in-demand skill Step 2: apply for the grant Step 3: get paid to do what you love & are good at Not that hard, really. My aunt is a retired DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) with a Neonatal Specialty. She's never been a tenured professor, but she's still pretty highly in-demand for training workshops and some speaking engagements. How is it not ok to get paid to share your skills and knowledge with younger generations training in your specialty? Do you think they should do it for free from the goodness of their hearts just because they are older and retired? Grants are critical in all aspects of healthcare. I'm in digital forensics. Law enforcement agencies get grants (local, state, & federal) to pay me to come train their forensic examiners on how to use the software of the company I work for. Yeah, that training includes travel. I was in FL last week and I'll be in OR next week. At the end of the month I'll be traveling to Germany for a conference and then teaching a course after that before going to Dubai the following week for another conference. |
Be an America hating Democrat. |
Try growing a brain first. |
Nope. Didn't happen that way. Do people always have to lie? |
Oh I am sorry...are the Democrats trying to burn the constitution and every institution that makes America exceptional? Try again, loser. |
The CDC and the FDA make America sicker than ever. Poison in food is illegal in Europe. |
F off Xi. |
