40B proposed cut from the HHS budget. NIH nearly halved! This is way beyond P2025. I am not sure that any appropriator would vote for this (essentially political suicide) but it will be interesting to see how much of a cut will actually be levied. The budget blueprint still has the spending toplines similar to last year but let's see who votes which way and watch JB spin this in front of the appropriators. |

I am pretty sure the appropriators will balk at halving the NIH budget for fear their pet interests are targeted...no MOC ever has voted to decrease that budget.
Someone needs to file impeachment bill for RFK..he is a loon and I blame Sen Cassidy for not standing up to allowing him to sail through and destroy our health systems searching for HIS belief |

I don't understand how anyone can support cutting health/biomedical science research with all the advancements we have seen. I don't understand how anyone can want to stop regulating our food/water/drugs. and on and on.
Eviscerating HHS is so incredibly stupid on so many different levels. The public really doesn't seem to understand what is at stake here. |

| lets look at reality here...when is the last time an actual appropriations bill was passed and signed into law not as an omnibus or CR. Some zombies may vote for the cut if it makes it to the House floor but I doubt it will ever see the light of day in the Senate |

| The NIH reorganization proposal was the brainchild of Cathy McMorris-Rodgers but was largely shot down by advocacy groups (it was as silly as the Alcohol institute not wanting to be merged with NIDA because the alcohol lobby wanted to avoid being clubbed with drug abuse). However, this has all the fingerprints of Vought -- RFK is just a figurehead. That said, some of the reorganization superficially makes sense. I think that Congress may bless the reorganization but I am not sure they will cut the approps by that much. The Dem attack ads just write themselves. Trump won't be around for ever and the Congress critters have ambitions too. |

I know a Trump supporter who said, via a social media post, that things like cancer and Alzheimer’s haven’t been cured so he really doesn’t think we are getting any “bang for our buck”.
