Funny, I was just thinking of this finale today. I have no idea why. Thanks for posting, op. |
Yes! That show was sooo good. I believe it was before Soprano’s. It was one of the first, if not the first, modern cable drama series. |
What other series do you really love? |
How did This is Us end? I stopped watching at some point as it got boring |
Ditto! Watched it just a year or two ago when I was sick and it was incredible. Obviously bawled during the finale |
Rebecca woke up from her dream of what happened from the crock pot fire and unplugged the actual crock pot and then lovingly checked on the kids before getting back in bed with Jack |
The day after the finale I woke up with puffy eyes from crying so hard the night before. They did an amazing job. Not rushed, not too much, not too little. Absolute perfection. A credit to HBO for letting them do it so well. |
Six Feet Under was spectacularly good all along. The range of emotions from deepest grief to off the wall humor, the very real flawed characters, it was just a perfect show.
I think the reason that people talk about the finale so much is because not long after there were so many shows that either ended with no finale, or had a deliberately ambiguous finale. Some of the ambiguity was well done and meaningful (Sopranos), but a lot was laziness or just not having the opportunity to write a finale. Six Feet Under's finale was beautifully done and very complete, so it stands out. |
Oh ffs. Kinda like a Newheart rip off? Wasn’t that also a dream? |
^ wait you’re joking, right? |
Agree |
Yes. I feel like PP can search episode recaps, and how are you supposed to answer that given they stopped watching "at some point"? Big cast, so much story, that would be a loooooong post. So I did take the pi$$ a bit ![]() |
Agreed! The whole series was so good. Acting phenomenal |
No! But as she’s dying she’s on a train seeing people who passed and no twist at the end. A boring ending especially since we knew she was going to die. And it showed how the kids relationships and their current status in life. And the daughter’s situation seemed unrealistic. |
Me too -- and I hardly ever watched TV before Covid. Six Feet Under was a show about death that was really about all the choices we make -- and the ones we punt on -- that add up to a life. It's the only TV show that I'd want to re-watch other than The Americans. (And maybe Severance . . . we'll see.) |
