His behavior is despicable of course but that’s why he went to tbe manager. I would absolutely let the management know all the vile things he said.

This... or maybe he IS a mother**cker and was upset at being found out..

I find it sad that you all sit around laughing while he uses these slurs.

This- also play up how uncomfortable this guy's language makes you feel. In future, when people talk like that anywhere, but especially in a work environment, shut it down. This guy isn't a jokester, he's homophobic and a racist. That makes him a bad person.

If you are in a single-party consent state (look that term up), record him while he’s using that language at work. Then report it to the manager or HR. It’s likely this person will be gone by the end of the week.

+1 you were contributing to a hostile work environment. You're awful OP.

This new guy started and has been saying really explicit jokes. We're all laughing have a fun time etc.
He uses slurs and mentions sex several times. He talks about "f*ggots". He says stuff about ethnic groups.
He is transphobic and has 0 shame.

I let my guard down and jokingly called him a mother*cker in a joking manner.I can't wrap my head around the fact that the same guy went to the manager and told him what I said and that it upset him. Obviously completely omitting all the stuff he talks about himself.
I am beyond confused. Imagine the most crude guy who has that kind of sense of humor running to the manager because he couldn't take what I dished out.

I messed up but I just can't fathom that THAT guy would run to the teacher so to speak..

I know this is all very childish but please try to imagine a coworker who is a jokester, telling your manager an offensive joke you made.

haha. This happens. There are plenty of anti social people at work. Some literally will try to “get you” if possible
If someone gives you reason to not trust them (like bad judgment in jokes) then you can not trust them -
they have to earn trust

like anyone takes time for people to earn your trust and honesty

When people tell poor jokes the camera always just captures the person laughing

That’s what I tell my kids

Try not to associate with fools. Leave the job is needed
