This. I would choose UVA hands down.

If prestige matters to your family, then Georgetown. I would let my DC choose after re-visits. We are in state for Virginia, so I would lean UVA. We are also easily full pay. However, the lack of direct admit at UVA is a big concern which would give me pause.

If money isn’t a factor, Georgetown. Guaranteed admission to business.

Regarding job prospects, this site placed Georgetown a notable fifth nationally by Career Outcomes Rank:

Do you mind sharing your son's stats? Wondering what it takes to get into these schools for business.

Couldn’t you find a college with alumni who aren’t as insufferable as these 2 colleges have? Like maybe Duke or Columbia?

THIS. Go to admitted student days and let him see where he fits best and is happiest. Both will give you great degrees and set you up for success, but an unhappy college student will result in decreased performance, engagement in social groups, making friends, etc.

Lol this is a funny joke.

As an alum of one and employee of the other, I’d say that there is no wrong answer (assuming costs are the same or not an issue). Both have very strong finance job placement.

The direct admit to McDonough is nice, so if the lack of certainty at UVA makes him anxious/less likely to enjoy his first year, then Georgetown is probably the answer. But lack of direct admit at UVA means he has a year to explore and confirm that he actually wants the business path. Lots of kids change their minds about what they want to pursue!

As others have advised, visit both and see which one your kid prefers. Does he want big football games and Greek life? UVA offers that. Does he like the idea of easy access to city life? Georgetown.

Good luck!

+1 I was sold after UVA admitted days and I was a Hokie. My kid did not like it at all. The sessions were super-crowded. He felt it more impersonal. He's not into the culture.

Georgetown was a clear choice for him--as painful as it was to our pocket book. I think younger sibling is more likely to make the opposite choice.
