DS is having a tough time deciding between both schools
Major - Business Tuition is not a factor He is a baseball varsity player and has been very social all his life. So I worry that Georgetown will not give him the social sportsy college town feel but he is unable to accept that someone can say no to Georgetown if they get in especially McDonough vs going into UvA and then trying for McIntyre though I believe he will be able to get in based on his personality and social aptitude towards clubs etc Also he is not sure about going into IB/Consulting/Finance yet , Will most probably lean towards management. |
| Georgetown is the obvious answer but there will be countless UVA boosters that swarm touting the benefits of that school. Try admitted students days. |
| Touting supposed* benefits |
| My kid chose Georgetown over the two |
All the clubs/socializing/parties revolve around sports- club sports and varsity sports at Georgetown- not Greek. It’s a very athletic school—even if it’s not a big football tailgate place. McDonough definitely |
| My kid picked UVA over Georgetown based on the supposed benefits. Loves it. |
| Georgetown hands down. Better national job prospects. |
| McIntire's policy of not admitting to their program as a freshman is a real turnoff. I don't know why the do this. I would go for the sure thing at Georgetown. |
| Must be a UVA booster trying to make this look like a real choice. |
| He can go to MBA at the other one. |
| If you are in state for UVA, then the cost difference is significant. if cost isn't a factor or you are out of state, then Georgetown. |
| Very different schools and campuses. One will feel better than the other to the student. |
Regarding job prospects, this site placed Georgetown a notable fifth nationally by Career Outcomes Rank: https://wallethub.com/edu/e/college-rankings/40750 |
This. |
| UVA better overall 4 year campus experience |
