This is the best news I heard all day…

Many of the contracts were cancelled in violation of the contracts and there are still monies owed for performance already achieved.

No, China and Russia have not filled the void. No one has. Bill Gates said recently that he cannot fill the void, it's impossible.

Whether there is trust again remains to be seen.

Judge Alsup also said today that rehiring the fired probationaries and then putting them on administrative leave violates the court order, which is intended to resume the services provided by the federal employees to the plaintiffs. More good news.

For the record, I am fine with a slow, thoughtful and organized retreat from giving worldwide aid, and I am fine with a slow, thoughtful and organized reduction in force of the government in general.

But "move fast and break things" means just killing vulnerable people. And that's criminal.

There are several agencies that they’re illegally “winding down” (as if they’re businesses), and many American lives will be measurably worse for it. But this one actually killed and is killing people. It is beyond inhumane.

A link to the news story? It's all over various news outlets.

A federal judge has found that the Trump administration likely violated the Constitution when it effectively shuttered the U.S. Agency for International Development.

In a 68-page opinion Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Theodore Chuang, an Obama appointee, wrote that "the Court finds that Defendants' actions taken to shut down USAID on an accelerated basis, including its apparent decision to permanently close USAID headquarters without the approval of a duly appointed USAID Officer, likely violated the United States Constitution in multiple ways, and that these actions harmed not only Plaintiffs, but also the public interest, because they deprived the public's elected representatives in Congress of their constitutional authority to decide whether, when, and how to close down an agency created by Congress."

The plaintiffs are more than two dozen unnamed current or recently fired employees and contractors of USAID. The defendants are Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency.

USAID employees who were fired or put on administrative leave were told to show up at the now-shuttered USAID headquarters in Washington, D.C., late last month to collect their belongings. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said most foreign aid contracts will be canceled.

They are so pro-life, right? As long as you have been birthed they do not care if you die.

That's been true of the Republican party for a long time now.

The lawsuit is against Elon Musk and DOGE. They do not have authority to restart the agency. The ruling is limited to things like restoring access to e-mail, and for Elon to stop firing any more people.

All the USAID employees who have been at home on admin leave will be permitted to come back and try to clean up the mess Elon made. Some of it is unfixable but hopefully something can be salvaged.

Then Trump can make a proposal to congress about how he would like to move forward in the next fiscal year.

I am one of these. It's totally unclear where we are supposed to go back to since they kicked us out of our buildings or what we are supposed to do since they canceled all our awards.

So, they would need to reissue laptops for everyone and reactivate profiles? How much time and effort would that take.

Efficiency is going to be the joke that follows Musk for the rest of his life.

If he does, he didn’t hear what Robert’s had to say.

Is anyone in the administration listening to Judge Alsup?
