Same. Why these two?

I think there's a pretty solid overlap between the student bodies at the two, I know a number of people super happy at Tech that would have liked W&M if they could get in

Also I heard from counselors that VT is catching on to kids doing this so make sure electives, extra curricular, etc support the intended major.

Because everyone knows what they want to major in when they're 17.

No- but saying you want to major in Fish Conservation thinking you’ll be able to switch to CS, engineering, or business and then not being able to would be disappointing I’d think. Illinois was the same way years ago.

+1 VT used to ask for 1st and 2nd choice major but got rid of the 2nd choice several years ago. I imagine they did so because too many people admitted under the 2nd choice found they couldn't then transfer to engineering/business.

CLAHS (College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences) is not "easy" to get into either.

DP. CS, engineering, and business are among the only "restricted majors" at VT. There is no problem switching into almost any other major. My own DC switched majors twice - but again, not to a restricted major.

Chill - OP asked about a strategy for admission. My kid just did CLAHS and got in despite not being competitive for engineering or architecture or other STEM majors.

If you have another strategy for admission then feel free to share.

Same. Why these two?
just guessing that their stats are a no-go for UVA and they are looking at the next two best in-state according to rankings.

Or, you know, they weren't interested in UVA from the get-go. Like my DC.

UVA and WM had identical 25/50/75 percent GPA, SAT and ACT admissions data last year accounting to SCHEV.

Stats? W&M has identical medians and higher 75th percentiles.

Not competitive for admission yet somehow has median SAT score of 98/99th percentile?

You tried to use this on another thread and got corrected. You might need to be more careful.
